EXCLUSIVE — The State Department has crafted plans to distribute staffers from a shuttered office accused of censoring conservatives to a new internal “hub” that will coordinate its activities, according to documents obtained by the Washington Examiner.
The Global Engagement Center, the office that Republicans accused of working with groups aiming to demonetize right-leaning media outlets in the United States, shut down in late 2024 upon lawmakers agreeing to no longer fund it. However, in a non-public letter to members of Congress on Dec. 6, the State Department outlined its plans to “realign” more than 50 GEC officials and tens of millions of dollars in funding to a hub purporting to counter foreign interference, documents show.
The plans, which have not been reported on until now, will likely lead to investigations from Republicans into the State Department’s handling of the GEC’s closure.
p
Much like the “closing” of the various corporate DEI departments, they’re removing the headstones but leaving the bodies in place.
Sounds like commies to me.
The Biidens are trying to prevent the firing of these creeps by sending them to new individual job positions to allow them to burrow back into the government until the next Democrat administration.
Great metaphor! I agree. The left doesn’t surrender that easily.
Evil will always seek a way.
EOrder from DJT on day 1. Anyone participating in violation of spirit of 1stAmend as part of their gov’mt job loses that job. Regardless of what is censored. If you do it, you are out.
This will not stop, but will encourage ratting out those that do. And, that will result in jail terms.
We can’t close the State Department.
We have to completely gut it and rebuild it. It’s sabotaging the will of the American people, and undermining the Constitution. Censorship of Americans has no place in Government, especially not in the State Department. The attempts to ‘move’ and ‘mask’ the censorship strongly suggest a complete overhaul of all leadership, and many employees and practices, is required.
Commies? Maybe. But often the communists are more honest. The Soviets had a Department of Agitation and Propaganda. Our government has never been that transparent.
They don’t ever quit; they adapt.
What un-American jerks.
From an old thread:
“...The FMIC (Foreign Malign Influence Center) was established on September 23 of last year (2023) after Congress approved funding, but its creation was announced publicly only after The Intercept’s inquiry. Because it is situated within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI, it enjoys the unique authority to marshal support from all elements of the U.S. intelligence community to monitor and combat foreign influence efforts such as disinformation campaigns....”
Sounds like insurrection to me.
Drop the State Dept budget to $1
That will fix the problem in 5 min.
