Victor Daviis Hanson: What Was So Different This Time About Trump’s Election?
RealClear Politics ^ | 20 Dec, 2024 | Victor Daviis Hanson

Posted on 12/20/2024 5:01:59 AM PST by MtnClimber

In the weeks before the 2016 Trump Electoral College victory, Donald Trump was polling between 35 and 40 percent.

He would average only about 41% approval over his tumultuous four-year tenure.

No one knows what lies ahead over the next four years. But for now, Trump already polls well over 50% approval.

His inauguration in a few weeks will likely not resemble Trump's 2016 ceremony.

In the 2016-7 transition, Democratic-affiliated interests ran commercials urging electors to become "faithless," and thus illegally to reject their states' popular votes and instead elect the loser, Hillary Clinton.

Massive demonstrations met Trump on Inauguration Day.

In less than four months after assuming the presidency, Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed to investigate the hoax of Russian collusion.

That wasted 22-month, $40 million investigation found no collusion, but did derail the first two Trump years.

What followed the collusion ruse was a consistent effort to undermine the Trump presidency -- two subsequent impeachments, the laptop "disinformation" hoax, the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown, and news suppression of any mention of the Chinese lab origin of the virus or questioning the closing of schools.

In the Trump administration's last summer of 2020, 120 days of riot, arson, looting, assault, and murder followed, with the denouement of the January 6 turmoil.

In contrast, the 2024-5 Trump transition has all but assumed the presidency. Over 100 foreign leaders have elbowed each other to be invited to Mar-a-Lago or to phone in their congratulations to the newly elected Trump.

Remember that in 2016 the Left screamed "Logan Act" if a Trump transition appointee even talked with foreign officials.

So why is newly elected Trump a veritable cultural hero in 2024 in a fashion unimaginable eight years ago when the media had rendered him a near demon?

The Red ChiCom CCP, colluding with their Democrat puppets, launched a premeditated bio weapon attack on Trump’s reelection in 2019. The timing of the pandemic was just too perfect. In the end Democrats still had to stuff the ballot box with millions of fake mail in votes to win. As each of the communist plots over the last 10 years unravel, I hope investigators rip the lid off of this one and identify the perps.

The 2020 polls were rigged. The election was rigged coming out of a spamdemic. The voters were spoofed by the joes and rachels and twits. 2020 was at the apex. 2024 was at the sewer level. The people woke. It was too big to rig....

The Deep State clearly let him win this time. They could easily have staged a replay of 2020. We are not yet sure what their game is - probably to blame an upcoming economic collapse on conservative thinking. But Trump is sneaky enough to turn the tables on them, so this next couple of years will contain enough drama to fill entire libraries full of history books.

I just wish his podcasts were kept to 30 minutes like Newt’s. An hour and 20 minutes of whining is too much for me.

The Democrats couldn’t cheat their way to victory this time. The Republicans at the top of the party did their job. Trump won in 2020 and everyone knows it. Gitmo is where they all should be!

No, the Deep State couldn’t steal it because Lara Trump deployed 650,000 watchers to the polling places and the counting houses so the Democrats couldn’t steal it like in 2020. Otherwise, Kamala would have been installed and the US would be Europe II. Great Britain’s plan to take the US back would have succeeded. US would become a loser country.

A number of things are different. Apart from having won the popular vote...by a comfortable margin...there are several other noteworthy observations. One is that voters rejected the legitimacy of every one of the legal charges brought against him.Another is that they've rejected as unwarranted cries like “Nazi”. Third is that they've seen the bravery of him shouting “fight, fight!” seconds after a bullet came a couple of millimeters from ending his life. And there are other differences too.

One big factor, PDJT used his own trusted people instead of relying on the establishment. Lara at the RNC is an example. I hope he keeps using them. They might not understand all the DC traps but the most important thing is to be loyal to PDJT and MAGA.

What made 2024 different from 2020?

2020 had Third World vote fraud. Trump's voters know and are still angry that the 2020 election was stolen. Kari Lake's governorship was stolen too.

Covid is real. The response to Covid is was what was anti-science, anti-public health, and crony capitalism at its worst.

Wars that never would have happened if Trump was still in office. Carter era inflation. Jobs. Endless, relentless law fare. Censorship.

The realization Biden was senile before he was elected. The Democrats and Republicans knew it, the news knew it, and everyone covered it up.

Which lead to two things:
Trump and much of the public seeing more openly than in a long time how the governing in the United States really works. It is not what is taught in high school civics class.
The lower to middle class voter having a decade worth of reasons to oppose the Democrats and status quo Republicans.

Biden and his crony lefty loony Dems, being so awful, in so many ways. Gave Trump 7 points. Many Dems and neutrals sat it out.
Elon Musk joining and campaigning for Trump was worth 2-3 points. Everyone figures that a man worth 400 billion dollars, must know what is going on,
