With France and Germany embroiled in domestic political chaos, the Italian PM is likely to be called on to deal with the president-elect
“She’s fantastic. She’s a fantastic leader and a person,” Donald Trump said of the woman set to be his European interlocutor. When asked whether he’d work with Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s prime minister, the president-elect replied: “Yes.” And the feeling is seemingly mutual, with Ms Meloni responding by sharing a picture of the American’s comments followed by an assessment of “kind words”..........
Ms Meloni, Mr Musk, Mr Trump and Mr Macron all dined together at an event to mark the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. After which, the president-elect reportedly called the Italian prime minister a “real live wire”.

Although I would not complain if I had to swap places with Elon in this picture
Trump likes smart, stable, attractive women who aren’t afraid to speak their minds.
I think by definition, that makes them conservative, too.
She takes zero crap from what I’ve managed to find out. THAT is the sort of ‘net zero’ I prefer. Bigger set than macaroon. Which wouldn’t take much.
Excellent!
She the one of the staunchest opponents of the Iran-Russia-North Korea Alliance.
She has lambasted Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine, and is one of Ukraine most solid supporters.
She stands for Law and Order, and is strong against illegal immigration.
Trump saved Italy
Get some, Elon.
I hope she is not too pro-Ukraine.
“””””I hope she is not too pro-Ukraine.””””””
The real concern people have is Russia invading and conquering nations in Europe, and less about which particular country they are trying to conquer at the time.
There quite a team being put together to fight the globalists...
- Trump
- Musk
- Meloni
- Milei
- Orban
- Bukele
I got a feeling there’ll be a few more joining the group soon.
It is a false concern. Sort of like the concern people have about Trump being a Nazi.
Problem is, Italy is now NATO’s biggest slacker. (Biggest gap in Euro’s from where they should be.) Even Germany is up to 2% of GDP for defense (2024, actually a year early.) Italy is weak on actual aid to Ukraine, too. I like what Meloni says on most issues, but... talk is one thing. Ya’ gotta walk the walk, too.
This probably should be its own thread:

The 2024 numbers may seem a little “weird” (low) because everything is referred back to 2015 dollars. Also, the US has disproportionately MUCH more money going to defense not having anything to do with NATO, than do Euro countries.
As great as that would be to see more Nationalists in power, there may be cases like recently in Romania, in which the non-Deep State approved candidate won, but the courts just nullified the whole process.
I wouldn’t put it past Germany or France to do some similar shenanigans if it looks like an AFD or National Rally candidate would be in a position to win.
Sure, Russia is no longer a threat to America and the world, and especially Europe, now go convince the dozens of nations that base all of their national defense on protecting themselves from the Russian habit of war and empire which still runs rampant in the 21st century as new nations join the alliance and seek membership in it as Russia launches the bloodiest European War since WWII and still aims the world’s largest nuclear arsenal at America.

You are absolutely right.
Her pro Ukraine talk is one thing, but Italy is among the weakest in NATO on defense spending. That’s why I’m surprised that Trump hasn’t pushed her on that issue yet... or maybe he has?
Her talk is excellent though. She inspires right-wingers to support Ukraine’s right to defend its borders. Defending borders is a conservative thing. And she seems good at it.
Milei in Argentina is also all for Ukraine. And he responded to Putin’s and Xi’s BRICS invitation with : “We don’t trade with communist countries!”.
