Americans’ trust in nation’s court system hits record low, survey finds
Associated Press ^ | December 17, 2024 | Lindsay Whitehurst

At a time of heightened political division, Americans’ confidence in their country’s judicial system and courts dropped to a record low of 35% this year, according to a new Gallup poll.

The United States saw a sharp drop of 24 percentage points over the last four years, setting the country apart from other wealthy nations where most people on average still express trust in their systems.

The results come after a tumultuous period that included the overturning of the nationwide right to abortion, the indictment of former President Donald Trump and the subsequent withdrawal of federal charges, and his attacks on the integrity of the judicial system.

The drop wasn’t limited to one end of the political spectrum. Confidence dropped among people who disapproved of the country’s leadership during Joe Biden’s presidency and among those who approved, according to Gallup. The respondents weren’t asked about their party affiliations.

It’s become normal for people who disapprove of the country’s leadership to also lose at least some confidence in the court system. Still, the 17-point drop recorded among that group under Biden was precipitous, and the cases filed against Trump were likely factors, Gallup said. …

Considering the high cost of justice what else can be expected?

America doesn’t have a “court system.” It’s just another DNC tentacle owned and operated by the commie lib RATS and packed with corrupt criminals posing as “judges”. If you’re an American, you better pray that you never end up having to be tried or have to do any business in one of these so-called “courts.”

Not just the kangaroo NYC/DC courts in the Trump cases but think of how blatantly biased and incapable of dispensing justice the DC courts have been. If a Democrat is caught dead to rights, DC judges and DC juries make sure they are acquitted. If the defendant is a Republican however, they convicted 100% of the time after denying their 8th amendment right to bail and hand down the harshest possible sentences...even for misdemeanors...even when Leftists are never even charged when they do the exact same things and even when the charges - as per the SCOTUS - are unconstitutional.

How could anybody have confidence in the legal system after seeing abuses like that? What I’ve seen in the last few years has shown me that everything I was taught in law school was an out and out lie. Our courts are now just as corrupt as in any 3rd world banana republic.

Got nothing to do with the cost.
Got everything to do with the political prosecution of President Trump and his supporters by corrupt Democrat/Soros DA's like Letitia James run under corrupt “judges” like Juan Merchan.

Yup.
Right now, America has by far the most corrupt, sleazy judicial system on the planet, thanks mostly to the Biden regime and George Soros.

Low? It’s nonexistent. And I don’t cheer when the home team wins a few games in court. It’s not about winning. It’s about justice and I see none.

It has everything to do with the cost. It’s not justice if you have to spend a fortune hiring lawyers to get it.

“nationwide right to abortion”

Any ‘right’ to snuff out innocent life reflects badly on the legal system.

People no longer trust the courts, attorneys, doctors, medicine, teachers, news media, food system etc.

Trust is earned and corruption and rot starts at the top and trickles down until the infection has overtaken everything.

All of those things and more need a good disinfectant. The crininals and fraudsters need punishment and a kick to the curb because that is the only way to restore any trust.

Even the poor are regularly given free counsel, albeit they may not be the best in the business. Of course the rich like Musk will have the best lawyers, like the get the best of everything. That’s the beauty of capitalism.

I didn’t rape that woman!

Pay a few million dollars!

I didn’t rape that woman!

Pay 80 million dollars!

The American legal system is defective.

A person should always be able to proclaim innocence.

Well, Mr. Finch, Tom didn’t deny it.

“It’s not justice if you have to buy it”

Why not?
You pretty much pay for everything else.

“And free counsel isn’t free. “

Yes it is, albeit you may have paid for it through taxes.
Or not.

We haven’t received a jury summons in years.

Not since I became a Trump donor.

Don’t want to respond to a jury summons?

Try donating to Trump.

Cuz I’m betting they check to keep conservatives out of the jury pool around here.
