Colin Cowherd blasted the National Basketball Association’s ratings collapse because the league has failed to give the fans what they want and compared that epic collapse to what has happened with the Democrat Party.
In a recent broadcast of his The Herd show, Cowherd noted that NBA commissioner Adam Silver has done a good job addressing CTE problems and has “navigated a multitude of cultural changes.” But Silver’s “tinkering” has strayed so far from what the fans want that TV ratings have collapsed.
Cowherd said, “He tinkers, he evolves.” Meanwhile, the NBA ratings are down 48% in the last 12 years, and they have fallen off a cliff this year. Adam Silver’s solution is, “Let’s make the courts brighter.”
Yet he went on to call the NBA “embarrassing.”

“And I like the NBA, but the All-Star game is now embarrassing, and I think load management is a shame on the league. It is a really bad look for a family of four to go to a game, and Giannis doesn’t play, or Embiid doesn’t play,” he continued.
“I’m sorry. Go ask the Democrats. Be warned. Once you detach from regular people in America, you will pay a price. And it is not easy to run these leagues,” Cowherd warned.

Basketball is a stupid sport where players are penalized for goaltending. The first 46 minutes of the game takes about 46 minutes. While the last two minutes take another 46 minutes.
Go woke : go broke. And DIE overloads.
Nuanced not mainstream group-think propaganda in messages, PSAs and commercials.
Too much BS entertainment on court during long commercials. You don’t really see it on network feeds but you do on raw feeds.
Some play by play and color announcers don’t have proper language skills.
Traveling not called enough.
Maybe 30 second clock instead of 24 will allow for better plays to be set up and less one on ones.
Expand the court width by a foot or 2 on each sideline.

Saw my last NBA game last year between MN and Boston. Just a bunch of over paid tall guys running back and forth trying to draw fouls on each other. At one point a player laid on the floor acting like he was in mortal pain after the opponent had touched him in the face.
I’m done with the MBA. Give me a HS or college game any day.
The 3pt shot’s killing the NBA. The games have become nothing more than jump shot competitions.
Allow zone defense. 3 point shot arc should not allow corner shots. Make 3 point line 26 feet out. Either decrease diameter of basket or raise the basket to 12 feet.(The height of the basket was formulated when the players on average were much shorter).Give extra free throw for any foul committed in last 2 minutes.(would make intentional fouls less attractive). 3 second zone should be larger.
As you said...call more traveling fouls. Automatic ejection for flagrant fouls...fine of $250,000.
Grew up with Jordan and Pippen; couldn’t name three players in today’s NBA, and couldn’t care less. And it won’t be long until the mercenaries dominating the “college” game will take that operation down the same rat hole.

Basketball - loved the game as a kid in the 1950’s.
Unwatchable now as far as I’m concerned.
The mercenaries in the college game have already gone down the same rathole. The intensity that used to distinguish the college game is often absent. Why should the players care? The stars are NIL portal surfers. All they care about is the NBA draft.
The only real difference is that every team with a pulse gets into the NBA tournament. Recall Bill Russell’s comment about the NBA season from the olden days: “First we play 82 games [whatever the length of the season was back then] to eliminate the Knicks, and then the season begins.”
College basketball needs to do two things to complete its transition:
1. Another round of expansion to increase the tournament to 128 teams so that everyone with a winning record is in.
2 The NIL players should go on strike just prior to the NCAA tournament, demanding the lion’s share of the television money.

as far as i’m concerned, the 3pt shot ruined NCAA college basketball as well ... i used to love college ball, but now there’s not 2 cents difference between college ball and professional ball ...
Widen the court by about a foot on each side
Eliminate the intentional foul by giving the fouled team the option to inbounds rather than shoot boring foul shots
