Europe has millions of Syrians who claimed refugee status on the basis of the Assad family, now some are making the calculation it is cheaper in the long run to make a a single cash payment to go home than keep the guests on social welfare programmes indefinitely.
Austria will offer Syrians a €1,000 ($1,000) cash payment “return bonus” to go home, Chancellor Karl Nehammer has said, stating the clearest reason they had for claiming asylum in the first place has now gone. Kronen Zeitung cites Nehammer as having said in a podcast this week: “We are now helping everyone who wants to return voluntarily. There is up to 1,000 euros for this.
The offer of payment to go home has triggered criticism from different quarters. For the anti-mass migration Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) leader Herbert Kickl, it is a scandal to offer even more money to ex-refugees when they have already enjoyed a great deal of largess from Austrian taxpayers. “It is a slap in the face of our own population, which is suffering from extreme inflation”, he said, saying rather than paying volunteers the state should get on with a “focus on remigration”, ending refugee status held by individuals who had fled defunct conflicts, and deportations.

Nothing screams cucked more than paying someone to leave.
Sure, they’ll get paid and then come right back. They do this anyway. MOST WON’T leave.
“Austria will offer Syrians a €1,000 ($1,000) cash payment “return bonus” to go home”
They get over 1000 Euros EVERY MONTH there. They reject this in a New York minute. Instead, make it $5k, and at the same time, tell them that they’re no longer ‘refugees’ and that they’re Illegals if they don’t leave within, say, 2 months.
...and for the 50% of these ‘Syrian Refugees’ who have never set foot in Syria, enjoy your home there!
The right way to do it is start out high and limit it to a certain number of applicants with lower payments for subsequent applications. At some point the payments disappear and anyone lingering on gets a hard-@$$ed deportation and blacklisting for reentry.
It looks like a beautiful 32 hour roadtrip from Vienna to Damascus according to google maps.
I like the idea on turning the screws a bit on them. Maybe give them a few months to leave, but after that, cut their ‘benefits’ down by 10% each month. They’ll slowly realize that Europe no longer wants them.
That's a "DUH!!" if I ever heard one. They are going to pay the Syrians a one-time $1,000 cash payment “return bonus” to go home. If they stayed, the social welfare cost of each and every Syrian would probably be $1 MILLION over that person's lifetime.
You don't even need a calculator to understand that cost/benefit analysis.
they will take the money
and come back
to get paid again
it will become an occupation/grift
EXTORTION
Pay ‘em cash when they turn in their parachutes at special kiosks near the drop zone.
Will NATO do the same for us???
Why will they leave for $1000 when they can stay and get 3X that much from the government? These politicians love to give away other people’s money.
If I was actually a legit Syrian refugee in Europe, I think I’d be waiting a while to see how things settle out in Syria. Something about “from the pan into the fire”, ya’ know...
