On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Inside Politics,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) stated that he has learned lessons from his unsuccessful attempts to strike a deal with then-President Donald Trump on DREAMers back during Trump’s first term and he knows “you have to work directly with President-Elect Trump to get an agreement, and you’ve got to be sensitive to his priorities, as well as your own.”
Durbin stated [relevant remarks begin around 22:05] that he hasn’t talked with Trump’s transition team about the President-Elect’s comments on DREAMers, but he expects they’ll talk to him about nominees and he’ll bring the issue up then. Host Dana Bash then asked, “You actually got pretty close on this issue, back, I believe it was 2018. Are there lessons learned from that going forward?”

Put Durbin in jail where he belongs.
Wasn’t there some president between Trump 45 and Trump 47 who belongs to the same party as Durbin?
These are exactly the people who need to go back and help their own countries, now.
I thought they were going to self-deport!!
Never trust Dirty Dick!!!!
What a dick
I have a dreamer deal, NO! No citizenship, no voting rights, you want to be here than return to your country of birth and apply legally and wait your turn.
Some are - there’s a YouTube video out where a group of them are relocating to Germany - they’re trying to start a ‘colony’ there - people of mutual backgrounds
DREAM on.
Deal? After stealing 2020 and all of the lawfare? Dems owe him bigly from day one.
1) No citizenship, only permanent residency, and only for specified categories of "Dreamers".
2) No chain migration based off residency status.
3) Money for wall.
4) Law that expressly permits states to enforce borders and reject ALL crossers except at specifically designated and staffed federal crossings points.
5) Amendments to asylum law that bar asylum from citizens of non-adjacent countries. Or at minimum, hard statutory cap on number of asylum applications that can be approved each year, and hard-cap on number of people admitted to the country each year pending asylum determination.
Have other ideas, but that's a start.
Another Democrap idiot who thinks the problem isn’t their bad ideas but just ineffective marketing.
I have no compassion for DREAMER folks who have been here long enough to have applied for citizenship and finished that process. I suspect the smarter ones have done exactly that. The majority of the DREAMERS however are not doctors, physicists, and other well-accomplished individuals despite how hard the left wants us to believe but welfare queens, gang-bangers, and druggies. Give ‘em the boot.
What I’d really like to see is an amendment reversing Plyler v Doe, and stating that nothing in the Constitution shall be construed so as to require that persons in this country illegally are not entitled to any benefit, of any kind, regardless of whether that benefit is provided to citizens and/or legal residents.
Stop funding the human trafficking organizations..largest taxpayer funding goes to the satanic ‘Catholic Charities’, and a couple of others..
Why didn’t he do this over the past four years when he presumably had a friendly president to work with?
Little Dick always tries to prove that he’s relevant.
Well, he’s not! He is a putrid little shit from a putrid state. His presence in the Senate bears witness to the fact that there are no non-wokeists eft.
Amen, don’t trust Durbin under any circumstances.
