Building America’s Future, a conservative nonprofit, is pouring half a million dollars into an ad buy to support Pete Hegseth in his battle to be confirmed as Trump’s next Secretary of Defense, the Daily Caller learned first.
The nonprofit’s ad will run on national TV but will also specifically target digital platforms across the state of Iowa, according to a press release obtained by the Daily Caller. Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is one of the senators who is threatening Hegseth’s confirmation chances. She has indicated that she was still undecided on her vote, despite a long meeting together.
“America needs a Defense Secretary who knows what it means to fight, and understands the price of freedom. Pete Hegseth is a patriot, a decorated combat veteran and a warrior who will stop at nothing to keep America safe,” the ad reads.
“The Deep State is trying to stop his nomination, but Pete isn’t backing down. Call your senator today and urge them to confirm Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense,” the ad concludes, providing the number for the U.S. Capitol Switchboard.
...
Ernst’s opposition to Hegseth has been met with frustration from some conservatives. Yet, the Iowa senator told Real Clear Politics on Thursday that she was not leading any opposition movement to Hegseth and was not interested in the position herself. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Ernst, alongside Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, were potentially in the running to replace Hegseth if his nomination fell through.

This is good news. Joni needs to get with the program.
We cant honestly consider the Liberal objections to this nomination. If they had the decision all to themselves ... they’d select Peweee Herman>
Pour on the gasoline - to encourange the others. Step out of line like this and you will get the same treatment, Cornyn, et al. Collins, just move contracts out of Bath Iron Works if she so much as casts a glance across the aisle. Murkowski can be dealt with similarly.
Ernst needs to be primaried in 2026. For now, we just need her to back Trump’s nominations.
Amongst other issues with Ernst, she supports transgenders in our military. I like some of her ideas, but if I lived in Iowa I’d get behind a strong candidate to oppose her in the primary.
Joni is her own program.
If thay had the decision all to themselves...they would select the traitor Mark Milley.
Excellent article in current “theiowastandard.com” re Joni’s ten year stint in Wash, DC. Went “native” indeed!
Vaguely reminiscent of hillary clinton’s fishing expedition for bribes from foreigners in the years leading to her glorious defeat in 2016. Is Joni delaying in hopes of entertaining intriguing offers from the left?
Assistant Democrats all!
Castrating those hogs on her Iowa farm might have been her sublimating the desire to do what she seems to be doing now.
She won't laugh so hard when the federal funding to the Eskimo Alaska Native corporations mysteriously dries up.
BTTT
Behold Swamp filth.
6 years in Politics? Swamp Filth. It takes 10 years out of politics to lose the filth.
6 yrs living in DC, in any capacity? Swamp filth.
Nearly all incumbents are Swamp filth. But to avoid uncertainty, it’s best to just rigidly apply the 6 year rule. That way the megaphone screaming of I AM A CONSERVATIVE can be safely ignored.
6 years in office? Swamp filth. 6 years in DC? Swamp filth.
Did she feel like she had to show the “girl power” card because she’s a female veteran? In that case, she should realistically know the additional danger women in combat face, and cause their units.
It is sheer stupidity to have women in combat positions.
She has indicated that she was still undecided on her vote, despite a long meeting together.
*************
Long meeting? She may be wrangling for some type of DoD spending in her state in exchange for her support. Just one possibility.
Agree. She sounded so conservative when first elected, but since has become almost indistinguishable from Collins and Murkowski. I don’t think this is representative of Iowa.
Joni Ernst exposed herself as a RINO. She should be primarried in 2026.
