Teen sentenced for killing 64-year-old DC man to stay in custody until age 21

One of the teens found guilty of the murder of 64-year-old Reggie Brown back on Oct. 17, 2023, was sentenced Wednesday. A 13 and 14-year-old girl were in court throughout October, accused of joining several other girls in chasing the 64-year-old man and beating him to death.

During a hearing Wednesday, the 13-year-old was sentenced until her 21st birthday, in restrictive commitment at DYRS.

Given the murderer’s age, her sentence was the maximum allowed by law.

And as a side note, this incident is yet another result of LBJ’s “Great Society”. That program cynically destroyed the black family unit. And so here we are.

Can Trump 2.0 make a dent in this? We can only hope.

One of the first teens sentenced testified. The 15-year-old said it was her idea to go out and look for people to "beat up" because they were bored. They found a man in a blue coat already beating up Brown. She said they asked if they could join in.

Lock them all up for life so they can understand what "bored" really means.

Many years ago I taught at a ‘youth center’ i.e. juvenile prison. Two of my ‘students’ were 13 when they committed murder. They were released on their 18th birthdays. The laws covering what to do with crimes committed by young criminals vary from state to state resulting in what appears to be trivial punishments for the most serious of crimes.

The War on Poverty destroyed the black family. In 1965, the illegitimacy birth rate for blacks was 24%. Now it's just under 75%. The reason is because a mother gets more in welfare and other transfer payments if the father is not in the home. How 'bout this: reduce the welfare payments by 20% if the father is not in the home, but give the family the full amount if he stays in the home. You don't think the mother would identify and go after the father for several thousand dollars a year? Black men needs to be responsible for their kids, not the taxpayer. It's easy to be a father...much harder to be a parent.
