After the British parliament voted in favor of a Bill to legalize assisted suicide, Bishop Patrick McKinney of Nottingham said it would be “a devastating law.”
On Friday, Labour MP Kim Leadbeater’s Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was approved by the Parliament by a vote of 330 in favor to 275 against. Although new Prime Minister Keir Starmer has supported legalizing assisted suicide, he offered members of parliament a “free vote” on the issue, and members of all the major parties were split on the issue.
The Bill passing is only the first stage in the House of Commons, and it will be months before it can be passed into law.
“This marks a very bleak day in our country’s history,” McKinney said.
“Let’s be totally clear about the situation we now face; presuming this Bill will eventually become law, somebody as young as 18 years old, who is seriously sick and who is judged to have less than six months to live, will be eligible for an assisted suicide on the NHS,” the bishop said in a statement.
“Based on the experience of other jurisdictions who have passed a similar law, I have no doubt that this is not merely about changing the law; we are about to witness a devastating shift in our culture and society. The fundamental principle that we do not involve ourselves in bringing about the deaths of others will be reserved for those who are strong and healthy, while people who are seriously ill and vulnerable will no longer be afforded such protection...
“I urge you to pray for the dying, pray for those who care for them, and pray especially for those people who may now be contemplating assisted suicide due to misplaced guilt or external coercion.”

Truly horrifying :(
Prayers that Americans will set an example: by making abortion illegal in all 50 states as well as codifying anti-Euthanasia laws everywhere.
The bloodlust of the left truly knows no bounds and is demonically evil to the core.
I’m confused. I watched my 85 year old Christian father waste away over a period of six months from what eventually was diagnosed as brain tumors. Before he got sick, he was as adamant about the evils of assisted suicide as anyone here. Then on his bed which he never came out of for months he talked over and over about how much he wished the soup he was being fed would be his last meal. He new he was going to die. He wanted to die. He suffered so much before his death. And for what? Why not let him chose to go instead of agonizing like that?
I should add that he went into hospice and they basically fed him drugs until it killed him.
It shows the priorities of the globalist elites, with migrants overrunning the UK, with their economy dying a slow death, with energy prices thru the roof, what does the Parliament choose to spend time on ??? Making it easier for people kill themselves, it’s truly insane.
I expect most of us will follow in his same path.
Conflicted, as well, ‘cause I could use the transplanted heart of an 18-year-old. Heck, I’ll accept the transplanted heart of an 80-year-old!
Voluntary today - mandatory tomorrow.
Starting with the very sick then just anyone old, then anyone with any disability and then anyone that does not agree with the government.
I think there should be suicide booths on every street corner, like in Futurama.
Got the sads? 25¢ your problens are over
I do believe Robert Ringer wrote a book on Restoring the American Dream. On that subject the libertarian in him said it’s everyone’s right to take their own life. What was interesting is the topic took up just one paragraph in the entire book. Was it hallow support?
It’s informed consent. We’re not living longer as much as we’re dying longer.
Vat II is instrumental in change of culture and sanctity of life.
I’m in favor of their position on Suicide just as long as they’re liberals, not that was a little harsh but we do have 1a.
