In the world of geopolitics created by the U.S. Dept of State and CIA, the pretending is thick. A recent report has Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy now offering to give up territory to Russian President Vladimir Putin in exchange for NATO membership for the remaining portion. The story is sold by western media as if Zelenskyy has options, he doesn’t. However, Putin has a very strong weapon that President Trump has to navigate with a team of people around U.S. policy that are tenuous at best. Let’s discuss without the pretending.

So Sundance is a Putin puffer. Who knew. /sarc
Very simply, it is in Russia’s interest to continue the war until all their oft-stated goals of the “SMO” are achieved.
I don’t see how Trump or anyone can get around this.
This was Bo’s war, F z and the horse he road in on.
Sundance does a good job of laying out how much he admires Putin and loves all things Russia.
Vladimir Putin has a weapon the “west” cannot defend against. It’s not part of his physical military armament, it’s far more powerful. Putin has the truth as a weapon.
The western group must pretend they didn’t carry out a color revolution in Ukraine. The western group must also pretend they didn’t install Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The western group must also pretend there was not a civil war happening inside Ukraine for a decade, and the western group must pretend they didn’t try to provoke Vladimir Putin with expansions of NATO and an intentional breaking of the Minsk accords. There are other pretenses that must be maintained, but those are the top ones.
Into this grand game of pretenses comes President Donald Trump, not exactly the best pretender (by choice) and Vladimir Putin not only knows this, but he also respects this Trump attribute of honesty in problem solving.
“I don’t see how Trump or anyone can get around this.”
Economic carrot and stick.
He’ll make them an offer they can’t refuse...
If global conflict stops or diminishes simply by changing a U.S. president, then who exactly is responsible for global conflict and escalation?
“He’ll make them an offer they can’t refuse...”
One option for Trump would be pulling the US out of NATO and Europe, permanently. Should that happen, Putin would probably be ok with freezing the war.
Zelensky has no say....and he sure as heck isn't “offering” land.
“Putin would probably be ok with freezing the war.”
I think I read that Putin wants a permanent deal.
Putin is now in the driver’s seat, but the cost is high, ~2,000 dead Russians per kilometer.
“I think I read that Putin wants a permanent deal.”
You’re right, but truly getting rid of NATO is about as permanent as it can get, without Russia or one of its allies (like China) permanently occupying whatever parts of Ukraine are not ceded to other countries...and that will be tough to work, as I doubt even Russia wants China occupying Ukraine.
There are probably a few Russian fixed points:
1. Ukraine not in NATO
2. no foreign troops in Ukraine
3. Ukraine officially neutral like Austria
4. no missiles in Ukraine that can hit Moscow
5. Russia has its foreign holdings back
6. no economic sanctions on the Russian Federation
7. every bit of the Kursk oblast(?) back
8. Russia keeps Crimea, much of Donetsk & Luhansk
9. Russian oligarchs get their assets back
“getting rid of NATO”
Putin will tolerate NATO, but not closer to Moscow than in 2021.
Putin will probably tolerate Zelensky, as head of a neutral Ukraine who ensures peace in Donetsk and Luhansk. As for holding on to other two annexed regions, I do not know, it probably depends on their genuine internal desire to be part of Russia.
You still have to convince Russia that NATO won’t work ‘behind the scenes’ again to arm-up Ukraine, and I cannot see even Trump pulling off that miracle, without some serious action by the West (like disbanding NATO).
As to the 5 regions, I agree on the first three - they will have to be internationally recognized as part of Russia for any deal to be signed by Russia. The last two (or parts of the last two) might be something Putin could trade for ending NATO, but even that would be difficult, as Russia’s parliament would have to vote to cede them back to Ukraine (i.e., unlike what the Leftists claim on a daily basis, there is more to Russian decision making than just Putin, much more).
Sundance does a good job of laying out...THE FACTS
The truth hurts, fella!
The truth will also set you free.
The problem here is that the Western neocons LITERALLY "have no reverse gear".
The guys on The Duran say this constantly, and I've never seen them to be wrong about it.
