Marc Andreessen tells Joe Rogan that Silicon Valley is split in half following Trump’s win: ‘There’s now two kinds of dinner parties’
Fortune ^ | November 27, 2024 | Christiaan Hetzner

He alleges that the goal was to ensure that only a small number of large companies would survive, and all agreed to be completely regulated and controlled by the government.

“We had meetings this spring that were the most alarming meetings where [regulators] were taking us through their plans: Basically just full government control,” he claimed. “They told us, ‘Just don’t even start startups, don’t even bother, there’s no way they can succeed, there’s no way we’re going to permit that to happen.’”

One tactic he claimed he personally witnessed was the federal government’s attempt to coerce his business partners and even his own partner’s father, author and fellow Trump supporter David Horowitz, by pressuring banks to revoke their access to the financial system entirely.

Andreessen said the party no longer tolerated dissent within its ranks and instead demanded lockstep conformity enforced through cancel culture, effectively reducing the Democrats to a religious cult minus the opportunity for redemption.

“You might call [it] ‘soft totalitarianism,’ which is just rules and power exercised arbitrarily that just simply suppresses everything,” he continued, citing de-banking as just one example.

If the Democrats ever want to pull themselves out of the mess they are in, Andreessen advised them to promote prominent far-left critics like New York Congressman Ritchie Torres to positions of leadership.

Fortune has reached out to the White House for a response but had no reply.

I watched that video yesterday. Marc Andreessen is a very sensible guy. He gets it. So does Joe.

Yep, as was crystal clear for the past 4 years. We can now just say it out loud without repercussions.

Biden’s operatives were certainly trying to strangle small banks. I know of one bank in upstate New York that didn’t have a single branch within the city limits of the nearby upstate economically downtrodden city. They were “suggested” to include that city in the small bank’s assessment area, which would mean that they would have to market to and make loans to people in that city even though they were never in it.

It’s not enough for me that they abandon fascism as a strategy. They have to hate fascism, not just the word, but the thing itself, and embrace the American idea. For them, that’s one tough row to hoe.

He was talking about AI companies. Government wants total control. AI will be used in a lot of areas like developing curriculums. The key clips from the Joe Rogan interview are out there. Scary. You had to be uninformed or evil to vote for Harris.

The last GOP candidate to win Silicon Valley in a presidential election was Reagan in 1984. Not even Bush, with Reagan’s coattails, won there in 1988 against Dukakis. Sad.

True, but they don't know it because they have been gas lit. They are completely brainwashed...and insane because of it.

Half the country is brainwashed. How do we deprogram them...I do not know.

But a divided country cannot stand.

On the one hand, there are gatherings he can still attend where he might run into other first-time Trump supporters such as Elon Musk.

I'm still trying to square what exactly is Musk's role in this new Trump Administration.

As best I can tell, he's the "Hand of the King" --and "Game of Thrones" fans will understand this reference.

And, no, I have no problem with this. Musk was instrumental in getting Trump re-elected and deserving of our gratitude.

Musk just needs a cool pendant to wear!

Each and every day those “people” are bringing us closer to Armageddon. I’ve lived my life. Having children and grandchildren it pisses me off to no end.

If half of Silicon Valley is now in Trump’s court, I would call that tremendous progress. Perhaps the MAGA group has become more emboldened so the division is now out in the open.

I am optimistic on the mass media brainwashing issue long term.

These old gatekeeper institutions are dying and most young people are already out of their reach.

If we get four years of President Trump and eight years of President Trump the world of uncensored Internet outlets will explode and have massive improvements in quality as well.

There will no going back after that.

I thank God everyday that Trump’s life was spared in Butler, PA. That was the epic turning point, and proved to me that God does intervene in our world.

> There’s now two kinds of dinner parties <

Democrat dinner parties are dull and drab affairs. No humor. No wit. Just occasional outbursts of vulgarity directed at any famous person who is not “woke” enough.

Republican dinner parties are just the opposite. Lots of humor and lots of laughter. Plus there’s the variety in the conversation. The guy on your left might be talking about restoring a battered 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood. The guy on your right might be talking about the summer he hiked New Zealand.

I’ve been to both types of parties. I’m sure you can guess which one I prefer.
