Angela Merkel: Russian Gas Deals a Necessity for German Industry that Helped Placate Moscow
Breitbart ^ | 11/26/2024 | Simon Kent

Posted on 11/26/2024 5:47:30 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has defended the gas deals she made with Russia saying they helped German firms and kept the peace with Moscow, revealing the strategy in her memoir Freedom, released in 30 languages on Tuesday.

Merkel’s spirited defence of her actions and central role in European geopolitics were clearly made to challenge those who accused of having been too soft on Russia, leaving Germany dangerously reliant on cheap Russian gas, and sparking turmoil with her much-maligned open door migrant policy from 2015 onwards.

The Germans also tried taking the oil and gas from Russia by force, and that didn’t work out so well

So it’s probably better to buy it

She, like Most EU Countries Disses Ruzzia in Public, then turns around and
buys Natural Gas From Him.

“leaving Germany dangerously reliant on cheap Russian gas”

Trump tried to point this out, got ridiculed by the Germans. Ric Grenell, Trump’s ambassador to Germany, had some pitched battles with Merkel over the dangers of being dependent on foreign sources of energy.

A lesson there for the U.S. Drill, baby, drill.

Merkel, that depicable East German hausfrau, was the one who declared that a million (plus) military age moslem males must be allowed to settle in Europe.

A true story: A few years ago during a popular German festival in a major city (can't recall which one) there were many, many girls and young women who were molested and violated in various ways by Middle Eastern young men. The morning after the Mayor of that city said that to avoid such incidents in the future German women should dress more modestly.

I kid you not!

Peaceful commerce IS the answer. This is not what Merkel meant, but there is little reason to NOT want Russia to want to join the club of The West.

You can shout “Drill, baby drill!” all you want to, but there is no more efficient solution for energy than a natural gas pipeline from source to consumption.

Thta was in Köln.

2,000 men 'sexually assaulted 1,200 women' at Cologne New Year's Eve party Independent UK, 11 July 2016.

Merkel also took credit for the mass migration of mostly Muslim men before that with "wir schaffen es." We'll do it!

Merkel publicly stated the Minsk agreements Ukraine violated was to buy time to arm up the Ukies for war with Russia….and the EU followed…..didn’t work out to well did it?

Germany’s manufacturing and government fell, as did much of the EU’s economy. No tears here, Russia is emerging stronger and the wicked EU reaping the rewards for their deception.

That is because they have nothing to “drill baby drill”.

Western Europe has very little natural resources except coal.
This is why France(as much as we like to diss them) made the correct decision to produce as much electricity with nuclear materials.

There is no natural gas to pump out of the ground like there is in the USA, Russia, the Stans, the middle east or the eastern Med.

They are kind of stuck. The mistake by Germany was to close down nuclear plants. They should be building more. As should we. They do not want to burn coal. So, the alternative is to burn wood pellets in the old coal plants. Which European sawmills make. However, they still import pellets from North American producers. They can only dam so many rivers.

They do not have geothermal energy like Iceland. Italy does though. I am not sure if Italy has geothermal electric plants. They have two active volcanoes(Etna and Stromboli).

So, other than coal, nuclear, wood fiber and hydro power what other option does Germany have to generate power?
Solar ? Unfortunately, it is cloudy/overcast there. It is not like southern California or NM where they get over 300 days of sunshine a year.

Wind turbines? As we all know they only work if the wind is just right. Then you have to have a battery to store the power when you need it.

So, you need natural gas or coal fired power plants you can turn on and off to supplement to “Green Energy” sources. That are not reliable. Much less cost comparable.

So, it comes down to WHO do you buy the Natural Gas from?
Russia
USA
Qatar
Australia

The Russian pipeline was by far the most cost effective solution. So, she did what was IN THE BEST INTEREST of the German people.

Germany can buy their LNG from the US. Put Russia out of business for good.

Peter Zeihan explained the issue awhile back that Germany has a weather problem for solar panels. It is OVERCAST for much of the year there. Especially in the winter.
It is hard to generate electricity from solar when it is cloudy all the time.

This would be like putting solar panels on the upper part of Michigan. It tends to be snowy/cloudy and overcast around the Great Lakes. As opposed to a place like Santa Fe, NM which has one of the sunniest locations on the planet. San Diego is another really sunny spot. Green Bay is NOT.
News flash, SOLAR PANELS generate more electricity in places that get more days of sun/year. They still do not generate power 12 or more hours a day in December anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere. So you still need a battery bank to store the power generated during the daylight.

And building ordinances will not allow you to keep the batteries in your house. A separate shed or out building is necessary, and a trench for a line from the panels to the batteries and from the batteries to the house. Additional electronic equipment is also necessary. I’m no expert, just relaying from what others I know have gone through. States differ on building ordinances too.

Does anyone think that Merkel was, all along, a Stasi/KGB sleeper asset who insinuated herself into the CDU for no purpose other than to do her masters’ bidding? There exists a photo of her, posted many times on this site, in a young commie uniform at some sort of jamboree in Russia. It was standard Cold War practice to recruit young people for lifelong service of the intel agencies, no matter what field they ostensibly went into.

What I remember about Merkel is that she let into Germany one million mostly military-aged muslim men, many of whom went on to commit rapes and other crimes.

Merkel's legacy:

She should be hanged for this.

“The morning after the Mayor of that city said that to avoid such incidents in the future German women should dress more modestly.”

Back when Sweden’s English Language newspaper had open forums, I used to troll the Swedes by telling them exactly the same, as they now must accommodate their new immigrants, and really need to stop living their freewheeling lifestyle (including how they dress and drink alcohol), as they’re making their new immigrants feel ‘uncomfortable’ and that they have a tendency to lash-out at society when that happens.

The Swedes were TOTALLY CLUELESS in responding to me, claiming it’s not for them to change, but for the immigrants...they had NO CLUE that they WILL change, as they have no choice about it.
