Big Brother is watching you tour Big Ben or drink pints in that Irish pub.

The United Kingdom, which comprises England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, now has an Electronic Travel Authorization System (ETA).

According to the Travel Weekly website, the ETA started in 2023 and was just required for travelers from several Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

Now, it’s adding Americans traveling anywhere to the U.K. starting in January 2025.

I’ll bet.

Freedom and those which espouse it are serious threats to a totalitarian govt.

Soviet Union used to watch Americans pretty close too.

Per this link....

https://www.visitbritain.org/research-insights/inbound-markets/united-states-america-usa#:~:text=Travellers%20from%20the%20USA%20made,million%20visits%20from%20the%20USA.

“...In 2023, the UK welcomed a record 5.1 million visits from the USA. During the travellers’ visits, their total expenditure was a record £6.3 billion, with an average spend of £1,222 per visit...”

Note to UK residents: There you go. 6.3 billion reasons not to screw with us.

And that’s just for starters...

Not visiting the UK.

I figure in their current state, they might demand access to my devices, see my FR and other posts, and chuck me in prison for wrongthink.

Orwell was a prophet. There’s a reason 1984 is set in the British isles.

I used to love spending time in the UK. Oh, well. That won’t happen again.

Went on a Viking River cruise a couple of months ago. Likely to be my last trip to Europe, if this is what I have to put up with.

The State Dept. will put a travel advisory on the UK and publicly announce it, when Trump gets in. That will not only kill tourism from the US, but many other countries. They should also label the UK a terror state but I doubt that will happen.

Why lump in the United States with those Middle Eastern countries?

Is it because they think any traveling American could be a potential MAGA extremist?

I have been there too, but I can guarantee, it’s not going to happen again.

No reason to visit England anymore than there was to visit Germany in 1939.

It’s because American visitors might spread the idea of MAGA to the UK.

The UK’s Deep State can’t have that.

Here is the original article: https://popcrush.com/united-kingdom-electronic-monitor-tracking-american-tourists-us/

I couldn’t cut and paste from the msn source.

This is going to spread to the continent some time next year.

From the article:
ETIAS conducts background checks on applicants to identify potential security risks before granting them travel authorization to 30 European countries. called the ant to travel to other parts of European continent.

The EU (and the UK) I believe are retaliating for our travel authorization measure.

Seven pounds or seven euros isn’t likely to be a deciding factor for a trip.

These background checks for entry started in muslim countries.
Then it spread to the UK.

UK is a muslim country.

Isn’t this bullshiite, similar in spirit, to the crap, that led us into that “unpleasantry,” way back in 1776?
