President-elect Donald Trump and the head of NATO have met for talks on global security, the military alliance said Saturday.
In a brief statement, NATO said Trump and its secretary general, Mark Rutte, met on Friday in Palm Beach, Florida.
"They discussed the range of global security issues facing the Alliance," the statement said without giving details.
Rutte and his team also met Trump's pick as national security adviser, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz, and other members of the president-elect's national security team, the NATO statement said.

F Europe. We need to get out of NATO and remove all American troops and equipment from Europe and let that Euroscum defend itself and pay for it.

We will never be a sovereign nation again until we do. NATO and the UN both.
To: McGruff
Trump is being very Presidential, and while “unofficial” it is still very material and substantial.

Just tell the NATO head and his far left bureaucrats to Go F themselves.
NATO is a money draining pit that has sucked in Trillions of dollars of US tax payer dollars for decades and is of little use to America.
To: AlaskaErik
Yup.
Europeans just love having US tax payers spend Trillions of dollars to defend them since 1949 while they spend their money on social programs for their own people.
Its win win for them and lose lose for Americans.
To: McGruff
I’m guessing that Matt Whitaker wasn’t there because he needs Senate confirmation and Michael Waltz does not.

In recent decades the major NATO operations were Afghanistan and Iraq and America certainly benefitted from allied troops being there.

It certainly is being demonstrated where the REAL power is, as a jackass like Rutte rushes to โkiss the ring,โ thinking that will somehow make everything okay. I suspect it won't.

We had no business being in Iraq. Saddam had no nuclear weapons like Bush/Powell claimed. Iraq was far more peaceful and prosperous under Saddam than it is today.
Afghanistan?
We spent over a Trillion dollars there, stayed there 20 years and ended up chased out by a bunch of Taliban savages.
Taliban is sill in power just like before we went there.
And what does Iraq have to do with NATO anyway?

Nothing the Europeans love more than free money from America.
They are basically chiselers.

Agree wholeheartedly. Add to the European chiselers all the other chiselers around the world -- to include many of our own politically well-connected and deeply corrupt elite -- and an VERY clear explanation for the rapidly rising, now $36 trillion debt is made clear. Very clear.

Afghanistan and Iraq are no where near the North Atlantic. That NATOs problem, they want to expand to cover the whole world.

Pretty smart because
1. He doesn’t have to rely on briefings
2. He can get it direct from the horses mouth
3. No Biden admin is there
4. Trump knows Rutte only got the job because he failed at destroying the Netherlands

So are we getting out of NATO already?
NATO should have gone away within a few month of the end of the Warsaw Pact.

We had no business being in Iraq. Saddam had no nuclear weapons like Bush/Powell claimed. Bush knew that, but we went into Iraq because Saddam had put a hit out on Bush's daddy - George H.W. Bush, so he wanted teach him a lesson.
To: McGruff
Meeting with Mexican cartel leaders would be more dignified and justified.
NATO is a threat to human survival and should be treated as such.
