Pennsylvania Dem Gov. Josh Shapiro sides with state supreme court ruling not to count certain mail-in ballots

The state Supreme Court reaffirmed its prior decision in a 4–3 ruling Monday that counties cannot count incorrectly dated or undated ballots. The decision singled out the Boards of Elections in Bucks County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County, whom they said "SHALL COMPLY with the prior rulings of this Court in which we have clarified" for mail-in and absentee ballots in their Nov. 1 ruling.

"Any insinuation that our laws can be ignored or do not matter is irresponsible and does damage to faith in our electoral process," said Shapiro, a Democrat. "The rule of law matters in Pennsylvania. … It is critical for counties in both parties to respect it with both their rhetoric and their actions."

As governor, Shapiro said he would "continue working to protect our democracy and the votes of all eligible Pennsylvanians."

Belshazzar saw "The writing on the wall" and so did Shapiro. Dem fundraisers want donors to believe Casey has a chance.

Why doesn’t he come down like a ton of bricks on those people who said “We can break the law any time we want. Rule of law doesn’t mean anything any more.”?

To explain this thought is irrelevant if nobody goes to jail. These election games somehow normalized, are felonies.

Agreed.

I think it will be Newsome in 2028 for the Democrats—but Shapiro probably does want to make a serious primary run and has a reasonable shot given the importance of PA in electoral politics.

Suppose that a ballot counter counts the invalid votes anyway. The counter takes the ballots out of their invalid envelopes, then tosses the ballots in with the rest.

How can anyone later determine which ballots are legit, and which are not?

If Casey’s team steals the election on the recount, the Senate should refuse to seat him. The Senate has that constitutional power. But does the GOP leadership have the will?

That blonde Barbie stink bomb needs to go to Jail. America is still kind of a nation of laws. We haven’t gone entirely “Anything Goes” yet.

The law is the law, but the elections person did make a point that is being missed. “I am breaking the law to bring attention to it.” Something like this.

She Is Right.

It is a monumentally stupid law. It will change. It has to be followed because it is the law, but it really, truly is robbing a handful of voters of their right to vote.

The overarching law is ballots must arrive by 8 PM election day night.

It doesn’t matter when it was dropboxed or mailed. It has to arrive by 8 PM that night. So throwing out ballots because a date is not handwritten on it is stupid. Yes, checking the signature is a legit reqmt. It is right and proper.

But the handwritten date reqmt is absurd. A handful (it really is only a handful) of ballots . . . voters . . . are losing their right to vote over writing some wrong date on a ballot when it is a date with ZERO significance.

I laughed at the trending on X topic that Harris is the dem’s #1 pick. The need to be thinking Mark Kelly and Shapiro. It’s way to soon to even think about 2028 anyway.

After the fact. I did not hear peep out of him while all of this was going on. Also, what has he done to cut out the vote cheating in Pennsylvania.

Yup Shapiro is not going the Obama route of calling Pennsylvanians "bitter clingers to the Bible and guns".

Obama won because the msm still had a force in 2008 which is gone now.

Shapiro is a radical democrat, but to paraphrase Yogi Bear, he is smarter than the average democrat.

Yep. Old-time liberals would have had no problem with that. But John Fetterman is the only old-time liberal left in the Democrat party. Everyone else in the Democrat’s ruling elite is hopelessly woke.

And to be properly woke you must be - among other things - quietly antisemitic.

It’s important that McCormick wins. For senate confirmation, Romney lost, but Trump nominees will need a majority in spite of Mukowski, Collins....

It is over! We won again. However I’m starting to think all this winning is making me too giddy to carry on my main daily activity of watching the Dim/socialist/commies meltdown on various sites.

Do we want a Presidential candidate who stayed silent about a court order being violated in the pursuit of election theft? The fact he wasn't quicker to denounce. Not forceful, disqualifies him from the highest office in the land.

Fetterman will be their nominee.

What's needed is for PA state AG Henry to direct the arrest and prosecution of the Bucks county officials who have broken the law. Shapiro could have and should have directed the PA AG to act, but he didn't.

FYI - Henry was a prosecutor in the Bucks County District Attorney's office for 21 years. She was a Republican but turned democrat in 2003. In January 2008, she was appointed as the county's district attorney.

Anyone else tired of democrat AGs applying the law differently depending on one's party affiliation?

They nominated Lieberman as VP candidate in 2000—but these are different times—not sure where will be in 2028.
