Fragments of 10 to 20 human skulls have been discovered in a burned-out house in a small town in New Mexico, raising unsettling questions about who the bones belonged to and how the people died, investigators said this week.

The Lea County sheriff, Corey Helton, said that the bones had been discovered this month inside a dilapidated property in Jal, N.M., which is home to about 2,200 people in the arid southeastern corner of the state, by the Texas border.

It was the worst AirBNB I ever stayed at. Now I know why it creeped me out.

Whoa, nice place! Who needs a front door in a trustworthy neighborhood like that?

There's bound to be a reasonable explanation. Perhaps the guy was making drinking cups out of the skulls of his enemies?

Here is another source: https://nypost.com/2024/11/14/us-news/up-to-20-human-skulls-found-in-new-mexico-home-may-be-linked-to-missing-woman-police/
Police said “10 to 20” human skulls were discovered during a second search of the house three days later.

The skulls were transported to the Medical Investigator’s Office in Albuquerque to be identified.

The sheriff’s office said the case is closely tied to the disappearance of 43-year-old Angela McManes, who was last seen in May 2019.

Undersheriff Michael Walker told KRQE that investigators believe the skulls could have been purchased online over the course of several years.

That is the post that got me interested in this story.

From that article: “As many as 20 human skulls were found in a New Mexico home after the man who lived there tossed bones out of a car while hitching a ride, according to police”.

I don’t understand. Is THAT the man’s home? That place looks pretty much abandoned, no door no electricity ? How could that be the place this guy lived in?

Doors, however, are really nice to have. Locked doors keep other weirdos from stealing your skull collection.

Seriously ,possible serial killer abode.

An open concept mid century (because isn’t everything mid century) design which cleverly uses the natural and sustainable crosswinds to reduce cooling costs.

New Mexico is still counting skulls while everyone else is still counting “extra credit” ballots submitted by the students.
