Trump's War on the D.C. Establishment Requires This Exact Cabinet Fight
Newsweek ^ | 11/15/24 | Jonathan Tobin

And whoever it is that Trump finally puts in charge of the Department of Justice as Attorney General is likely to have the same agenda as Gaetz in purging liberal hardliners from its staff of lawyers who have not only taken part in the lawfare against Trump but also enabled the woke virus to spread throughout the government.

That's a battle that Americans who understand the grave damage that Leftist ideology is doing to the country know must be fought.

And while some on the left are mocking Trump's idea of Department of Government Efficiency led by billionaire Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, their effort to make Trump's notion of a vastly trimmed-down D.C. bureaucracy a reality is no joke and a much-needed project to reduce the federal leviathan.

This is not a "revenge" tour. It's a long overdue campaign to reform an out-of-control federal bureaucracy.

In recent decades, as government power has grown exponentially, the administrative state has assumed the role of a fourth branch of government. Protected by both civil service regulations and the dysfunctional nature of Congress, it makes most of the rules and regulations that govern the country. Only the Supreme Court, with its overruling of the "Chevron" precedent, which gave government agencies the ability to make new law, has had any success in restraining it.

The people that every administration rely on to carry out their policies—the vast federal bureaucracy—are every bit as biased toward Democrats as the press. The "expert" class and their civil servant allies are dedicated to ensuring that liberal orthodoxies on a vast range of issues are not only enforced but survive the efforts of Republicans to rein in or reverse them.

I hope Musk starts with firing national park rangers. There is no other government official more arrogant with an air of virtuous superiority than a park ranger. Every encounter I have had starts with a lecture about global warming, acid rain or some other fake pending eco disaster. I had one chase me because I didn’t have an up-to-date emission testing sticker. Infuriating.

Trump ran on policies, very specific policies. He onw, big and everywhere. Why do Senators interpret that as Trump having to pick Mitt Romneys cabinet?

It’s not a “Trunp revenge tour;” reforming an out-of-control federal bureaucracy is long overdue:
<><>government power has grown exponentially,
<><>the administrative state has assumed the role of a fourth branch of government.
<><>it’s protected by civil service regs and the dysfunctional nature of Congress,
<><>it exploits rules and regs that govern the country.
<><>govt agencies had the ability to make new law,
<><>restraining it was impossible.

The vast federal bureaucracy—and their civil servant allies- are dedicated to liberal orthodoxies on a vast range of issues. Efforts to rein in or reverse them failed until The Supreme Court’s recent overruling of the “Chevron” precedent.

The federal government runs on laws and not on cabinet members.

The laws and regulations need pruning, uprooting and replacement.

The ability of a President to fly in 30,000 invaders a month needs to end.

“I hope Musk starts with firing national park rangers.”

I would start with the privatization of government agencies. Send out RFP’s to companies to bid on the contracts to run the administrative functions of the government. There will be immediate resignations and will decrease personnel through organic means. Turn every position into a TS/SCI position where polygraphs are mandatory for positions. Keep a couple of GS8’s around to manage the contractors work, ensuring that SOW deliverables are monitored monthly.

Right before that though, Trump should demand that all Deep State security clearances are revoked and that they cannot become employees of any company who does business with the government.

No!!!! We did that under Gore’s reinventing government. That was the pattern that built deep state corruption. Bush/cheney put it on steroids with the WOT and Iraq war. Politicizing the civil service just took away effective oversight of the corruption.

That is a recipe for utter lack of accountability to the taxpayer/voter.

No politics involved at all. We do this all over the government. The Defense Health Agency which is part of Military Health Systems has companies like HP, Leidos, etc. maintaining their systems and helping over 9 million veterans and their families. And it works. The government put out a bid for these services, with clear guidelines within the Statement of Work on what needs to be reported on monthly. There are metrics that need to be met and consequences if the SOW is violated.

You can do this with any agency.

And to pile on your comments perhaps the new feds could privatize the parks somehow...recall when Hussein shut them down over a budget squabble he went right to the national parks, the Lincoln Memorial and other landmarks. Perhaps the best side note of Trump’s victory is the bitch-slapping of Hussein behind the scenes.
