Navigating the Fiscal Storm: A New Course for U.S. National Defense

DEFENSE PAPER: TAMING THE WARFARE STATE

The United States is sailing through turbulent waters: the post-Cold War unipolar moment has passed, and the 21st-century geopolitical landscape is shaped by sweeping social, political, and technological change. Our current defense policy, a relic from a bygone era, is an expensive and ill-fitting suit that no longer serves its purpose. The fiscal storm is upon us, and profound changes are needed to right the ship.

The Defense Elephant in the Room

The realization that the United States is in fiscal free fall is beginning to sink in. An economic crisis looms, one that bailouts and quantitative easing cannot stop. Regardless of the circumstances, profound changes in defense structure, leadership, and thinking are needed. These changes will inevitably evoke strong responses from Capitol Hill and the defense industry.

KEYWORDS:
This is the man who should have been named Secretary of Defense. He is a career military man who is also the ultimate Pentagon outsider. He was basically drummed out the military for heretical ideas like the obsolescence of aircraft carriers as early as 2000.

Unfortunately, Macgregor’s well earned chops as an adversary of forever wars, including Bibi’s, has left him out of the Trump DoD. Perhaps Musk, Kennedy and Vivek can get him involved in slashing the military fat in their group.

I’m sure Hegseth is a great guy but after getting DEI and the perverts out of the military, what’s his plan for totally revamping this trillion dollar a year behemoth catastrophe?

All Fed.gov income - corporate and income taxes, tariffs, land royalties, payroll withholdings, etc... now covers ONLY interest on the debt and entitlement payments

Operating Fed.gov and the entire military budget - runs on BORROWED/printed money.

Its an absurd situation, and it can’t last.

This is the man who should have been named Secretary of Defense.

I agree with you.

Macgregor has been a constant source of wisdom throughout the last four years, especially in regard to the disastrous proxy war in Ukraine.

Maybe he'll be the alternative to Pete Hegseth if his nomination is sabotaged.

Macgregor actually has sound ideas to fix it.

If you look at how he would revamp the military you realize it’s not pie in the sky. It would be a bloodbath for the bloated officer ranks and MIC profits but Macgregor’s ideas would work.

Macgregor has told the truth about the extent of Bibi’s screwups. That puts him on the outs with the Trump White House.
