We have two years to secure the well-being of the United States.
Have your say, but then step out of the way.
Sure, right after they get rid of it long enough to pass Project 2025...
“Somebody should let McConnell know he is irrelevant.”
Unfortunately, he will have a big say in who the next Senate leader is for the Republicans. He will try to get another RINO in that position.
Not only kill the filibuster, but also expand the court. How else can we save our democracy.
Now is the time for Trump to tell the RINOs that if they keep playing nice with democrats to stop his initiative, he’ll send Scott Pressler into their districts and states during the primaries and general elections.
I looked at the rules and there is no reason Vance can’t serve as majority leader of the Senate.
I’d love to see that happen.
That would be ama ing!
If they keep it, change the rules back to them having to stand up there and actually DO something for hours and hours on end.
The filibuster prevents tyranny of a majority. 51/49 should not be sufficient to pass some law that, for example, authorizes death to any of the 49 who voted against it.
I got no problem with the filibuster. If it prevents policies because they are not overwhelmingly popular, then that’s good.
Only Sinema prevented it being erased. Her greatest accomplishment.
Well now might be the time to get rid of the Fillibuster
Right now there is only one Republican Senator from a Blue State, Susan Collins of Maine who is up in 2026. However, there are many Democrat senators in Red or leaning red states that could be ripe for the picking.
In 2026 for example Republicans have 20 seats to defend vs 13 Dem, but besides the aforementioned Collins, they are all in safe Red States (Maybe Tilles in NC could be vulnerable too), but Republicans can pickup seats in Georgia and Michigan
So barring catastrophe there is little chance of the Republicans losing the Senate anytime, possibly for decades, so Dems won’t get a chance to use it against us anytime soon.
