Please be sure to post before/after. A good time to make state legislatures behave especially with voting.

The total number of state legislators by party is nothing but trivia. What matters is who has control. An extra Republican in Idaho or an extra Democrat in Massachusetts means nothing.

So which state Houses and Senates are close enough to be flippable? That would good to know.

I’ll help out:

ALASKA: both House & Senate (especially Senate) are close, but it almost doesn’t matter because even when the GOP has the numbers the liberal wing merges with liberal Democrats as a “coalition” to ensure that conservatives have no power.

ARIZONA: Rats need ONE House seat and ONE Senate seat to move from minority into a tie. Obviously that means they need +2 to take full control of the state government.

MICHIGAN: Dems flipped both houses in 2022. Reps need +3 in both cases to get control back. Good luck.

MINNESOTA: Republicans need a net gain of 1 seat in the Senate to win back what they lost control of in 2022. It will take a small wave to get the House.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: In a state where each neighborhood practically has its own representative (there are 400 seats) things often fluctaute wildly. If they fluctuate just slightly to the left, Rats will get the House.

PENNSYLVANIA: could require a ton of copium next week if Kamulatto wins, Casey wins, Scott Perry loses, etc. AND if Democrats go +3 and take the state Senate and get 100% control of PA government. GOP is fighting hard and may avert disaster, at least in the Senate. Rats currently lead 102-101 in the state House and on a good night the Republicans will take it back. On a bad night they won’t. Duh.

WISCONSIN: GOP has big leads in both houses.... today. In 2025, they won’t. A Democrat gerrymander has been put in place for 2024 and when the votes are counted the WI House and WI Senate are going to look a lot like Pennsylvania’s — tossups all the way around. WI Republicans need a good election night at ALL levels.

“MICHIGAN: Dems flipped both houses in 2022. Reps need +3 in both cases to get control back. Good luck.”

Republicans controlled the Michigan state house as recently as 2020 and controlled the senate as recently as 2018. Unfortunately, the majority in both chambers were RINOS who betrayed their constituents.

The new Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party is former congressman Pete Hoekstra. I’m hoping that he can bring a little stability back to the position.
