A Japanese village struggling with a low population created life-sized dolls to mimic the feeling of a bustling society.
The hamlet of Ichinono, which has less than 60 residents and only one child, is trying to fill the void with stuffed mannequins, which they dress up and place around the community — and even pose on swings and bicycles.

Yamazaki explained that although older inhabitants there had children, they encouraged them to attend college away from the tiny community about an hour northwest of Kyoto.
“We were afraid they would become unmarriageable if they remained stuck in a remote place like this,” she told the outlet.
“Out they went, and they never came back, getting jobs elsewhere. We’re now paying the price.”

Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who was elected on Oct. 1, has vowed to help build up rural areas, as Ichinono is just one of more than 20,000 communities in Japan where most residents are 65 and above.

“struggling with a low population”
If I ever decided to leave the U.S. permanently Japan would be where I would relocate to.
One reason is a very low muslim population.....not to mention a certain ethnicity that plagues us here.
Japan was highly vaccinated with the JAB. Just saying...
James May had a travel show where he visited Japan and that village. Very good show:

This reminds me of Tourist Trap. Chuck Connor would be proud.
I wonder what the abortion laws, rate, and attitude is there. If the population is being decimated like in western societies, they probably will open their borders to offset population decline, like we have. But, I have no idea of the situation there. If they truly keep a tight lid on immigration, I agree it might be a great option.
It would enhance their quality of life by giving them more space for grilling outdoors, having a dog (which many in Japan want but can't have due to living in densely crowded cities), or just taking a walk in the countryside and enjoying the peace and quiet. The real estate would be much more affordable not to mention all the money they would save on commuting AND as an added bonus, it would breathe life back into lots of small towns and villages.
The trend begun about 150 years ago of people moving from the countryside to the big cities thanks to industrialization went too far. Reversing that trend would be good for everyone.
Honestly....would population decline be such a bad thing for many countries? Japan has 125 million people packed into a land area the size of California. Japan is very mountainous so a lot of its territory is unsuitable for people to live - meaning those 125 million are even more crammed in than the land area alone might suggest.
Would it be so terrible if people had more elbow room? If a country's main objective was not projecting military power but instead preserving the quality of life of its people, why not stay a relatively safe and harmonious homogenous population like Japan has and just let the population decline? So they'll be down to 80 million by the end of the century? So what? Why is that so horrible? Its not like their economy will collapse. They will still be a relatively rich country, they'll be able to enjoy full employment and automation can take the place of many workers. For other things, (eg textile manufacturing) they can outsource that to poor countries.
Cheap rural Japanese houses can be found .. they often require significant renovations and may come with challenges ..
Can we ship them our illegals? Texas could route the buses to run on that interstate highway Joe Biden is building across the Pacific.

Man, the world is getting to be Twilight Zone chit.

Beats one alternative of being outnumbered by idiots.
Those rascals sure know how to put on a good show lol
If you don’t mind foot long creepy crawlies invading your house and spiders the size of pterodactyls lol
In Blazing Saddles they used cardboard cutouts.
Reminds me of that scene in “The Stand” where the mentally challenged character did that to his town.
