Former President Donald Trump will join Tucker Carlson at a live event in Glendale, AZ to benefit victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton on Oct. 31, just days before the Nov. 5, 2024, presidential election.
The event is part of a tour organized by the Tucker Carlson Network that brings Carlson together with notable Republican and conservative leaders at designated cities across the US. The Glendale stop is advertised as a fundraiser for those Americans who were devastated by Hurricanes Helen and Milton: "We are coming together to support those affected by the recent hurricane. All proceeds from this event will be donated to hurricane relief efforts, providing much-needed aid and resources to communities in need.”
Trump made an unexpected appearance in Ashville, North Carolina Monday to inspect the damage incurred by Hurricane Helene and to announce that the GoFundMe campaign he has authorized for the victims of the hurricane has generated $8 million.
"I want to thank everyone who supported the GoFundMe. We set it up right after the storm left, almost immediately, and I authorized a lot of people to help," Trump said, noting that houses and possessions can be rebuilt and replaced but lives cannot be.
"To date, we raised $8 million, of which $7 million has been distributed to the various charities that are helping" clean up the impacted areas by Hurricane Helene. The page states, "With so many still facing challenges after the storm, President Trump is once again on the ground in communities to see the aftermath firsthand. All donations are directed to help those most affected by Hurricane Helene by supporting these organizations: Samaritan’s Purse, Water Mission, Clinch Foundation and Mtn2Sea Ministries."
Trump said the Biden-Harris administration’s response to the calamity lowered the bar for disaster assistance. "You gotta get a little bit better crew to do a better job than has been done by the White House. It's been not good," Trump added. "I'm here today in western North Carolina to express a simple message to the incredible people of the state: I'm with you and the American people are with you all the way."
The Biden-Harris administration’s lack of response has led to accusations of corruption, according to information relayed by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) whistleblowers to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). FEMA has said that delivering “equity” was job one for the government agency. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had said there isn’t enough money in the coffers to pay for hurricane relief.
