Fla. Panel Frees Officials From Suit Alleging Election Meddling

The Florida Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Gov. Ron DeSantis and top state officials didn't unlawfully try to influence voters when they advocated against an upcoming ballot measure that would legalize abortion up to viability, denying a petition brought by an attorney seeking to hold them accountable for improper political interference.

Writing the majority opinion, Florida Supreme Court Justice John D. Couriel denied Adam Richardson's petition accusing DeSantis, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Jason Weida of violating a state criminal statute by arguing against Amendment 4...

Richardson's time-sensitive petition for "writs of quo warranto, writs of mandamus and all writs relief" accused DeSantis, Moody and Weida of unlawfully using their "official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with an election or a nomination of office or coercing or influencing another person's vote or affecting the result thereof," a misdemeanor crime...

Richardson said the officials have "waged a campaign to interfere with the election," according to his petition. The activity that Richardson alleges is unlawful includes the website for the Agency for Health Care Administration, or AHCA, that stated Amendment 4 "threatens women's safety," in addition to Weida and the AHCA posting links to the website their social media accounts.

Richardson also referenced an October 2023 opinion piece authored by Moody stating that the amendment misleads voters, as well as emails sent by the governor's office earlier this year...

In response, state officials said Richardson didn't have standing as a private citizen to enforce a criminal statute...

For all the institutions the left controls, this shows that they don’t yet have the judges, at least not all of them or the ones that can stop things like this.

But they will try to go after those next. God help us all if they should ever succeed.

Exactly. Florida Democrats have armies of school teachers and NE retired liberals attacking DeSantis constantly.

All or almost all of Floridas Supreme Court justices were appointed by republicans.
