” The hope is that students learn the true history of California, the horror and the genocide, but also the resiliency of the Indian people,” said Assemblymember James Ramos, a descendent of Manuel who authored a bill requiring schools to teach about the mistreatment and perspectives of Native Californians in social studies classes.

“It’s time that the voices of California’s first people drive the educational process, especially when the subject is our ways, our people, our history,” said Ramos, who lives on the San Manuel Indian reservation in San Bernardino County and is the first Native Californian to serve in the state Legislature.

The per capita income for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is $403,504.

Appears that the tribe members are doing well with their casino

More of the “America sucks and always has” movement.

Close the public schools.

Will it also include mistreatment of other tribes by tribes? It was not all a big love fest before the white man arrived.

Screw you people. I no longer have any sympathy for your earlier plight. With all the casino money you now have, your whining is getting old. Conquest happens. Do you really think the White Eyes were never conquered? Read some history and then grow up and join the World.

Will they also be taught how much the lives of the natives have improved on so many ways because of palefaces?

They’d still be living in teepees otherwise.

This kind of negative indoctrination breaks the spirit of kids and creates a sense of helplessness and the idea that life is meaningless, unless of course it is channeled into creating mindless aggression and impulsive lashing out that can be directed into a cause or at a group.

Builders and hearts full of hope and dreams do not come from this type of education.

Exactly! They were scalping and raping each other with reckless abandon.

> Will it also include mistreatment of other tribes by tribes? <

I’ve mentioned this before:

I once read an article about a French fur trapper who worked the Great Lakes region around the time of the American Revolution. I can’t remember the names of the two Indian tribes in the article, so I’ll just use A and B.

One day the trapper went to visit his friends at Tribe A and couldn’t find them anywhere. So he canoed down to his friends at Tribe B.

“Where is Tribe A?” he asked the chief of Tribe B.

“We killed them all,” the chief replied.

That’s right. That means if they truly wish to be accurate, they’ll have to include accounts of the grudge wars, land theft between tribes, human sacrifices, cannibalism and slavery.

Does this include the enslavement of Indians by Hispanics?

Here are the latest fake Indians that just got Federale recognition. They will be building casinos soon in Illinois. 30 members in this tribe iirc. They have never lived on an Indian reservation. Because this tribe is landless. But is busy buying up land to create a reservation to build casinos on it.

https://www.perplexity.ai/search/prairie-band-potawatomi-nation-g8L1dkBiRRalZBY_e1r4fQ

The most recently federally recognized tribe is the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Illinois. Here are the key details:
Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation became the first federally recognized tribal nation in Illinois after a decision by the U.S. Department of the Interior in April 202423.
Key points about this recognition:
It comes nearly 200 years after Native Americans were forced out of Illinois2.
The Department of the Interior placed portions of the Shab-eh-nay Reservation land in DeKalb County into trust for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation3.
This gives the tribe sovereignty over the land3.
The decision comes 175 years after the U.S. government illegally auctioned off 1,280 acres of land owned by the Prairie Band Potawatomi3.
Background and Significance
The tribe spent $10 million over 20 years to repurchase 130 acres of their ancestral land2.

Most of the Indian tribes in California before the Spanish and Whites came were living in huts made of brush, running around naked, throwing sticks at rabbits to get meat and were themselves often eaten by bears and mountain lions. They had no equivalent to the Plains tribes, Pueblo tribes, ir the Mohawk Federation.

A friend chatted with a Shoshone guy working federal issues with the Ute Indian tribe. He asked him how that was. “They treat me about 1% better than they would treat a white guy like you...”

He was going to quit because he was homesick.

Here is my summary of Indians—
1- Your tribes were killing each other all the time, before the white man arrived.
2- North America was very sparsely populated before the white man. Maybe 5 million Indians
3- Meaning these vast lands were hardly being used. Nature abhors a vacuum, so the Europeans poured in. If we had not done it, the Chinese would have.
