You sure seem to like the Russians and the Iranians a lot.

Why is that?

What might dropping 100 or so of those over Moscow and St. Petersburg accomplish for the Ukraine war effort?

Funny.

On another thread a few days ago I pointed out that Russia doesn’t have to go nuclear just yet, they got thermobaric bombs to use before that.

This little Slavic tiff over who gets to sell oil in the Ookraine needs to have an end quickly before it all goes off the deep end. Pooty-Poot has a lotta levers to ratchet up the thing before he has to pull the high card.

“Pooty-Poot has a lotta levers to ratchet up the thing before he has to pull the high card.”

That is true - if nukes are used, it won’t be Russia using them first.

China and Russia has a border dispute in 1969. Russia was caught off guard by by a mass invasion. They employed thermobaric bombs and effectively ended the invasion.

So what’s the problem using this type of munition. International law does not prohibit the use of thermobaric munitions, fuel-air explosive devices, or vacuum bombs against military targets. As of March 2024, all past attempts to regulate or restrict thermobaric weapons have failed. The only question is how the determination of military targets were made.

But it seems like whenever they are used around, so called, non-combatants, the shite flies. And that always places the use of any device as to what is considered colateral damage. That determination is bordered by how much and many you are willing to lose for the trade off of people that could do something about their peril. They made the choice, the Ukraine, and the gamble. It’s all part of war no matter which side. And if they didn’t expect this when their ancestors decided to rebel against Russia in the early 1990’s, then you can add a lack of forethought to their failings. No one can single out the death of certain people in a war. That isn’t a war if it happens. A war means most are in jeopardy. And a high I.Q. isn’t needed to think of that.

This conflict didn’t start in 2014 but over 20 years before the media wants to say it did if not far before that. And you’ll never get an answer to that as it becomes opinion and what part of the world you are standing in. Especially with the efforts to rewrite history that has become a weapon of everyone that can get away with it. P.T. Barnum said, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” And he was not a clairvoyant.

I thought we used those in the Gulf war, I am not sure.

...during the Gulf War, the U.S. dropped a 6,800 kg BLU-82 bomb to conduct psychological warfare against Iraqi troops. A British SAS unit that witnessed the explosion assumed the U.S. had used a nuclear weapon and radioed back to their headquarters, "Sir, the blokes have just nuked Kuwait!".

That would be a very real and serious concern. While I think it is a mistake to give Russia the benefit of doubt for using their frequent nuke threats to influence our foreign policy (such as it is lately), I don’t see enough upside for the USA to waste money propping up a Ukraine that is doomed to eventually lose anyway, taking too many of our tax dollars and weapons inventory with it. Go big or go home and no one here that runs Biden appears interested in going big. That leaves....

When ever a nation gets into a war of attrition with Russia, it always ends the same way, with Russians in your capital. Russia is slowly bleeding out Ukraine. When Europe and America gets tied of paying and paying Little Zelenskyy or gets distracted my a war in the Middle East—its all over. Best bet, fire Little Zel, and make a deal with Putin—Trump will do it in time but if you act now you might get a better deal. The Donbas is gone. So to the land bridge to Crimea—but you might be able to cut a profitable deal to rebuild.
