Sorry for you but with hope you’ll hear soon. Communications are really bad down there.
Where we live, three inches of rain in the mountains will cause the streams to flood. There were some places in western North Carolina that got more than 30 inches of rain.
Oh, that’s impossible. Climate change wasn’t a thing 55 years ago.
Speaking from personal experience ....
There's something really depressing about cleaning up the mud after a flood. It's heavy, it's sloppy, it stinks (you don't get that from TV pictures) ... you don't know what you'll find in it ... and you don't even know if it's worth it: the building might still be unsalvageable.
I looked for flood photos and nothing shows for that area - yet.
Don’t give up hope. We have relatives in Ashville. We finally heard from them yesterday.
And Biden and Harris say “meh”
Very few POC in this area..that is why. Just “white trash”. If it had gone thru ATL - it would have been a different story.
I am trying to find out the status of Mars Hill NC, about 25 miles north of Asheville. Lots of family history there, although no relatives live there anymore.
There is nothing available online that I can find. If anyone knows about how badly Mars Hill was damaged, please post.
Thanks,
CSA
No it isn’t. Just different. Lower population density, more widespread, mostly a flood event (so seriously under-insured). My family and I all are all Katrina survivors. We were flooded too. I know the heartache of the latest victims.
Yes indeed.
The obama doctrine at work.
Reward your friends and punish your enemies.
It will take lots of unknown American citizens to get help to these folks.
I read that the Cajun Navy is already on site.
Mattress Mack in Houston will probably be putting together truck loads of supplies and food/water soon. A lot of his furniture suppliers are in North Carolina.
Folks, if you are not Ukraine or uber wealthy coastal elites, we are all on our own.
Also, they have to clean up the mud on I-40 especially around Asheville and Black Mountain.
If you're trying to go to NC from Tennessee, forget using the I-40 for a couple of months. You'll have to use an alternative route instead.
Glad to hear the good news. So far 600+ still missing. Hopefully it's just that there's no way to get hold of them due to no cell phone coverage.
Any freepers wishing to help? Samaritan's Purse is a great way to connect. Click above to donate or to view their video of setting up field hospitals and delivering supplies.
I’ve noted the differnce between Floridas surge waters and the souths flood waters....just a lot more messy and dirty clan up in mud and would be hard to salvage much at all.
A few days ago I started slapping together an image of old “Looter Guy” with Kamala Harris’ face superimposed, and a horde of illegal border crossers behind her, being led across the waters. About half done when this hurricane struck. Not as funny now, and I’m glad I worked too slowly.
These photos are so sad.
Actually those white cylinders traveled there from a propane company that got hit with fast moving flood waters.
