On Sunday, the couple’s seventh {secular} wedding anniversary, Thiry and Washington celebrated that love by receiving a blessing from the Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church. It was Pfleger’s first time blessing a same-sex couple since Pope Francis approved such blessings last December.

“What was important to me was that they feel the love of God when for so many years people in the name of God have shown them hate,” Pfleger said of his first time blessing a same-sex couple. “I wanted them to know that God loves them like he loves everybody.”

This guy is listed as a “senior pastor” at St. Sabina. There is another priest with an African sounding name who is listed as “pastor”. I have never heard of this arrangement before. What is a “senior pastor”? And how in the world can this guy even have a parish after everything that has happened with him?

Wife is life long devout traditional Catholic. She was in tears yesterday over what has happened to her church. I am Lutheran not Catholic, but I understand her feelings. She cried not just over this apostate priest, but over the damaged caused by her Jesuit Pope. Under John Paul the Catholic Church had a mini revival, he died and unless something changes so will Catholicism. The schism has already started.

Pfather Pfleger is a self-promoting showboat, and has been one for years. I’m surprised he didn’t stage some ceremony on the Dan Ryan Expressway to shut it down and garner more publicity.

But in point of fact the Chicago Archdiocese hierarchy (that would be you, Blaise) are as much to blame, both for tolerating this crap and more so for leaving him in charge of his Southside fiefdom long after he should’ve been rotated to another parish as is standard policy.
