Hogan is trying to distance himself and be elected in Blue Maryland. If he gets in, he will vote with us at least as much as Collins/Murkowski. Trump is Trump and if his comments hurt his campaign its on him. It was unnecessary and helped him not at all, true or not. Doesn’t matter that the Dems say worse and more often. News will only report Trump. My 2 cents.
As you said, Trump is Trump. Like him or dislike him, that the way he is. People who will (or consider to) vote for him have already taken into account his styles and where he stands.
It is his campaign and/or his surrogates that need to make this styles of speaking to be an advantage for Trump.
