No insult intended but your wording suggests that you actually believe Romney, McCain and the GOPe weren't onboard with the whole thing...they were just weak and ineffective.
How rotten the GOPe governance was, with the Iraq and Afghan wars, neglecting the economy, etc., and how weak the candidates were (McCain and Romney) to allow the “Great Pretender” to come to power, is just deplorable.

McCain and Romney were role playing as GOPe “gentlemanly losers”. They really didn’t care so much about winning as caring about going through the motions, knowing they would be protected and supported by the deep state.
