I HATE THIS STORY. But what it demonstrates is the fragility of our maritime logistics system to support the fleet.
With just 14 fleet oilers, 2 Supply class fast combat stores ships and 12 dry cargo/ammo ships, we don't have much depth in the fleet to support multiple strike group deployments, routine operations and training. The 3 Lewis class oilers have not completed or past post-delivery acceptance.

The weakest point in a system is usually the best place to attack.

Piloting and navigation are becoming lost arts in the New Navy.

Water shortage?

I told a teacher the other day, the next time she takes kids to the local science museum, pay attention to the prehistoric exhibit and the work they're doing on marine life fossils scattered all over Alabama because the entire state used to be covered in water. Then think about it the next time the "news" tells us sea levels are the highest they've ever been.
If you click through to the gcaptain source link, there’s a picture of the ship with big Ukraine flag-colored stripes painted on its smokestack. Are these colors just a coincidence or is this intentional and authorized? I’d post a picture to show what I mean but that’s too high-tech.
