I dated a girl that was absolutely amazing with a rifle. She could hit things I couldn’t even SEE!
This is not news, this is WW II and the Finnish all over again.
There were a lot of really good Russian female snipers too, but they seem to have faded from the narrative of today for some reason

It has been my experience as an instructor that when fully trained, females can be damn good shots. The Soviets certainly thought so, too. My favorite was Lyudmilla Pavlichenko. A Ukranian born Russian who had 309 confirmed kills.

I am aware of Miss Shanina. Unfortunately she died before she could rack up as impressive a total.

It’s not always like in the movies. Unless hit with a head shot (and sometimes even then depending on the caliber), someone shot even in the heart (center of mass) can still move for a little while. Now a large enough caliber can result in a different result. For example a .50 cal basically obliterates any soft target. But that’s not always the case.
Unfortunately I’m guessing our female snipers identify as such.

Women have better small muscle control and, in general, are better distant shooters than men, assuming they can get over the recoil. They are also generally smaller and can sneak into little spots.
Not sure why the author couldn’t find other examples of great female snipers. There are plenty.
