Republican activists in swing states say they have seen little sign of the teams tasked with knocking on doors and turning out infrequent voters on behalf of Donald Trump, raising concerns about the party’s presidential nominee relying on outside groups for an important part of his campaign operations.
Trump and the Republican National Committee he controls opted to share get-out-the-vote duties in key parts of the most competitive states this year with groups such as America PAC, the organization supported by billionaire Elon Musk.
It is difficult to demonstrate that something is not happening. But with fewer than 50 days until the Nov. 5 election, dozens of Republican officials, activists and operatives in Michigan, North Carolina and other battleground states say they have rarely or never witnessed the group’s canvassers. In Arizona and Nevada, the Musk-backed political action committee replaced its door-knocking company just this past week.
“I haven’t seen anybody,” said Nate Wilkowski, field director for the Republican Party in vote-rich Oakland County, Michigan, which includes crucial Detroit suburbs. He was speaking specifically of America PAC. “Nobody’s given me a heads-up that they’re around in Oakland County areas.
*** “I don’t know what the PACs are doing,” said Mark Forton, the GOP chair in Macomb County, Michigan, a populous, suburban area northeast of Detroit. “I don’t know if they are going door to door.” ***
Based on ad reservations for Harris and the leading super PAC supporting her, they are on track to spend nearly $175 million more than Trump’s campaign and the leading super PACs supporting him by Election Day. Harris’ campaign has outspent Trump’s on advertising by 2-to-1 since she entered the race on July 23, according to the media tracking firm AdImpact. ***

From what I understand, this depends on the state. Turning Point Action (https://www.tpaction.com/) is focusing in on Arizona and Wisconsin. Starting in early October through election day, they are even putting up people from out of state in hotels in order to door-knock and work on the ground game in these two states. There are at least a couple of different PACs working on the ground game in Pennsylvania.
I know Ben Shapiro was talking about how people were complaining about the disorganized ground game in Michigan, although Turning Point does have some paid operatives and volunteers there. As far as I can tell, we’re relying to a certain extent on Brian Kemp’s state-wide organization in Georgia, for better or worse. The Dems have a much better ground game than us in Nevada, but we do have efforts to reach folks out in the rural areas who are often ignored.
I know the official Trump campaign ground game efforts (https://trumpforce47.com/) are present in all the swing states and Virginia, as well as to an extent in NE-2 and ME-2, though, they don’t seem to be as extensive in the way the Democrat efforts are. And they are encouraging people outside of these places to volunteer to make phone calls. They are also planning on getting out of state volunteers to work in the swing states starting 72 hours prior to election day.
We definitely need more volunteers and funding (join in folks!), but I think we’re doing better than the previous two times Trump ran.
The campaign keeps a computer database of Republican voters and when they vote. They are only targeting “low propensity” Republican voters in their get out the vote efforts. Republicans who always vote in elections are only getting mailings, rather than door-knocks, calls, etc. Republicans who sometimes miss voting are getting all the attention to try to make sure this isn’t one of the times they don’t get around to it.
Fenwick,
Thanks.
That’s good to hear.
So, you people, get off your butts and Knock!
There are organizations (Local Republicans, Charlie Kirk’s Turning point action, Trump 47, and many others) that will give you instructions, help and materials.
Not too hard, except here in Phoenix during excruciating heat, but we do it anyway!
Those expecting someone else to do it should go do it themselves.
Country is a mess because fools think others should do the work while they just complain/whine about things.
It was asleep at it’s card table of forms
Yet, it was there....
I hope this is not a repeat of 2020 or 2022...big fat juicy poll numbers that didn’t translate into cheat proof vote totals...
Grifters running the PAC? Or all their efforts poured into poll watching?
“used to be”
They are also bribing those voters.
Door to door salesmen still work door to door, solar for example.
No soliciting signs are to be ignored and are often a sign that the person has weak sales resistance (or at least that is what I used to teach my people).
Some popular products that are sold door to door include:
1. Solar panels :
2. Security systems:
3. Home Improvement products:
4. Energy efficient products :
Energy efficient products can include energy efficient windows, doors, insulation, and appliances.
5. Lawn care services :
6. Cleaning services:
What are the advantages of selling door to door?
D2D sales is one of the most effective sales techniques when done correctly. Sales representatives who sell door-to-door often find that they have a significant advantage over their competition. Here are four key reasons why door to door selling is a great sales technique:
THIS APPLIES TO WINNING OVER A VOTER AND GETTING THEM TO SHOW UP, AS WELL.
1. Personal Connection
When you sell door-to-door, you have the opportunity to establish a personal connection with your potential customers. You can learn about their needs and interests, and tailor your pitch accordingly. This is much harder to do when selling online or over the phone.
2. Trust
When you meet someone in person, it’s easier for them to trust you. They can see that you’re a real person, and not just a faceless entity. This can be a big factor in closing a sale.
3. Rapport
Building rapport is another important advantage of selling door-to-door. When you meet someone in person, it’s easier to establish a rapport with them. This can make it more likely that they’ll do business with you.
4. Persistence—WORKERS WHO CAN DO THIS WILL MAKE GOOD POLITICAL SALESPEOPLE.
Door-to-door selling can be challenging, but it’s also an excellent way to build your persistence muscle. If you can stick with it and keep knocking on doors, you’ll likely see success. This is a valuable trait that will serve you well in other areas of your life.
People in my town who post to Next Door are ready to report to police anyone unexpected approaching their house.
I can’t think of a greater annoyance than an unsolicited knock on the door. I can’t take unsolicited phone calls or texts, either.
Or emails, either.
D2D salesmen are the SEALs of the sales world and only a tiny percentage of people can do it successfully, masses of people flow through the pipeline but they only last days or weeks.
But plenty of salespeople who wouldn’t attempt it do quite well with higher-end sales (B2B, RE) that your street dogs might not be so good at.
During its hayday before the 3 day cancelation clause, D2D sales was led by guys making money hand over fist, private planes and drivers.
When the law changed a lot of the top sales guys went to doing motivation lectures and seminars for the salesmen you are talking about, and professional fund raising, empires have been built on door to door sales and people tend to look at the kid or young adult knocking on their door and forget that there are layers above them.

It is common for police to show up and check out the canvassers and then leave because it is legal, that was normal 50 years ago, it is routine.
But it reflects just how annoying you have to be to how many before even reaching a prospect to try to strong arm.
IMO annoying many people daily is no way to go through life.
Are we running out of money?
Dems have rich targets for door-knocking AKA ballot harvesting. Nursing homes, college campi, etc. You can think of more.
We have nothing analogous. That’s a huge Dem advantage in tactical efficacy.
Live streaming rallies may not be enough ( I fear )
You don’t see it with either party. We’re so divided at this point that anyone knocking on doors is likely to get an earful frequently - who wants that?
