I swear, about a third of the way through, I began thinking...burning eyes...blurred vision...
And AD1 Ingram came to mind. He was an older, balding sailor with a black mustache, and he had to have all of his teeth pulled for some reason. So he was eating peanut butter straight out of the jar in our small Powerplants shop just off the hangar deck on the USS John F. Kennedy. It was a small compartment, and there were probably 10 guys in there.
Suddenly we became aware of a creeping miasma radiating out from where Petty Officer Ingram was sitting. People began in tiny waves, chokin, coughing, swearing, jumping up and running out of the compartment...it was that evil.
My last glance back at Ingram as I exited the compartment revealed Ingram, sitting on a tall chair next to the writing desk, all alone, grinning madly!
