Press Release: Notice on the Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Foreign Interference in or Undermining Public Confidence in United States Elections (EO 13848)

On September 12, 2018, by Executive Order 13848, the President declared a national emergency pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) to deal with the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States constituted by the threat of foreign interference in or undermining public confidence in United States elections.

the national emergency declared on September 12, 2018, must continue in effect beyond September 12, 2024. Therefore, in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13848 with respect to the threat of foreign interference in or undermining public confidence in United States elections.

Trump created this EO and renewed it yearly (twice). This EO was renewed by bidAn 3 times, and today the fourth time. It would have expired on Thursday 9/12, otherwise.

EO 13848 has clearly been put to use, just not advertised much.

Under the US Treasury, there is an "OFFICE OF FOREIGN ASSETS CONTROL Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List", a listing of instances where various Swamp-draining EO's have been invoked. It has been growing over the years, now at 2725 pages.
