Oilfields in Texas are often VERY lonely places. In general, attacking oilfield workers, in Texas, away from prying eyes isn’t a good way to grow old.

Attacking workers out in the Permian Basin. The companies there will put out some armed security. Lets see if these Venez-pricks can take over in the Permian Basin. That isn’t suburban Denver.

Why would they steal oil from an oil well? Are they going to refine it to make gasoline? Sounds legit to me.

Activate the Texas National Guard.

It’s an invasion.

Yup. There used to be a bumper sticker around that area. “Don’t tell my mom I work in the oil patch, she thinks I’m the piano player in a whore house”.

Oilfields out there are not a place for strangers. That’s the kinda place you go into and act like an idiot, you might not come back.
Between oil workers, security, and local west Texas cops and Rangers.... you’ll have few friends.
And you better bring a trailer cause you -aren’t- getting a hotel room.

From 2015:

“Small groups of armed men on boats typically zip up to an oil platform at night and hold up workers, stealing everything from microwaves to wallets to machinery, according to oil workers.”

One well in the hands of an accomplice can sell more oil than the well extracts.

Huh? You can’t sell oil like tomatoes at the farmer’s market. You have to have a permit to transport.

They’re not there to steal oil from an oil well. They’re there to steal vehicles, valuables, food, water, etc.
I used to work down in south Texas in the Eagle Ford back during the boom.
Many of those well sites were waaaayyyy back in the black brush country where there’s nothing for miles in any direction. The oil companies all had their formal “no firearms” policy, but many of us in those remote areas stayed armed to the teeth for our own protection. Imagine a small crew of workers, say maybe 8-12 people working on site, then being overrun by 50-60 illegals..or more.

Crimes associated with these groups include the theft of oil, diesel fuel, copper wire, and catalyst elements. Recent incidents have also included two assaults by water haulers who were attempting to steal oil from WTX oilfield sites. After the thieves were observed by witnesses who drove up to investigate, the thieves attempted to use their vehicles to run the witnesses off the road. In another incident, a thief, acting as a spotter and following a water hauler who had stolen oil, also attempted to run a witness off the road. There have been numerous reports of second vehicles acting as spotters for water haulers committing oil thefts.

Just responding to the stupidity of the article on Liberty Daily.

Yeah, lots of backhoes and other earth moving equipment there, and men who know how to use it. This problem may sort itself out soon.
