I dropped Spectrum because they jacked my bill $100 suddenly. The “intructory” agreement expired, apparently. But when it “expired” they added on HBO and other garbage without telling me. My bill was $350 per month!
They gone!

Your old crap is someone else’s classic.

No cable bill. No commercials.

It’s a great option.

But if you need the latest hot today thing, yeah, you can pay the subscription. I just wanted to share how I’ve found quality commercial free viewing at no charge.

Didn’t claim it was for everyone.

Carry on.

I like the library option as well. And they are only a few months behind the pay services in most cases getting the latest releases.

I don’t watch regular tv at all. The only ads are the ones Prime has introduced to their programming, and while annoying are usually never any longer than 40 seconds. What’s taking so long for the demise of NBC ABC and CBS?

Yes the only thing I cared to watch in the news bundle was FNC - until they went to the dark side - then I cancelled the whole bundle.

TV Land is nothing but a sewer from the wasteland of the planet.

I miss the free videos that played until 5:00. Gale Storm, Eddy Peabody and his banjo, the Harmonicats.......

I miss C-Band. Everything was la carte and I paid about $100 per year for the channels I actually watched.

I subscribe to Peacock for 30 days per year for the Indy 500 coverage.

Freevee has plenty to watch but includes commercials but much less than commercial tv. Amazon handles Freevee thru their prime video service. I buy so much thru Amazon that it makes no sense for me to not have Prime. Spectrum offers a cheap pick 9 channels for a low price until you find out there is a $25.00 access fee for the free local channels. No local channel reception where I live.

When CATV first came on line it was about $5.00 a month, of course the electric bill was about the same.

the solution is to offer a la carte

Yes, but the actual CONTENT CREATORS, the networks, will NEVER allow ala carte.

It's not the 'cable companies' that drive the market, but the networks. Heck, a lot of cable companies would LOVE to get rid of cable television - they don't make any money from it.

Dumped Spectrum last week after they raised cable tv by $27 /mo.. then they raised my internet by $20 because I no longer had a “bundle.”

I built a Gray-Hoverman antenna out of foam board and copper tape. It picks up 22 channels. I am researching streaming devices now. At least I’m not paying to subsidize garbage like MSNBC and CNN.

Get a grip man, I’ve already seen your old classics. You’re coming off as a weirdo. So you save some nickels and see nothing new, I get it. Don’t get so butthurt just because I don’t want to repeat watch things I’ve already seen like you do. I can pay for what I watch, no big deal. That’s really my only point. Jeeze!

There’s lots of really good new stuff on the tube, too bad you’re gonna miss it all until it’s years old and you want to censor things for everyone else because you don’t approve. Are you 85 or something?

If you want some entertainment, check out the Comcast forums, where people are complaining about being unable to end their subscription to Disney+, that they got through Comcast.

We have YouTubeTV and while not ala carte, you can delete channels you don’t watch.

Huh?

I just suggested a way for people to see content without commercials and without spending money. Which was basically what the the whole thread ended up being about.

Who said I’m repeat watching anything?

And I’m the weirdo... got it.

Here's what kinda' ticked me off...

YOU: I wish we could go back to three channels only again. FREE. Get rid of all the sicko crap. There is way too much garbage hitting our kids on the boob tube. TV Land is nothing but a sewer from the wasteland of the planet.

You want only 3 channels only again all for FREE, huh? You mean like 1955? Then you want all content you don't agree with banned because you're worried about somebody else's kids? You want us all to have to watch Gunsmoke re-reuns and "How green was my valley" type movies?...

Okay Karen, keep your hands off our kids, we'll do just fine without you and if you don't like our TV content, then don't watch. Simple enough right?

I HATE censorship and I love free speech. That's what we're getting with cable pay TV... Free speech TV, free from people like you Reverend.

That was FlingWingFlyer’s post.

I’m John Milner.

Your post was misdirected. I agree. I hate censorship. That genie is never going back in the bottle.
