Ukraine Electric Company Boss Fired as Russia Pounds Power Grid
NY Times ^ | Sep 3, 2024 | Maria Varenikova

The head of Ukraine’s electric company was fired on Monday, the utility said, amid allegations of political meddling and just a week after a major Russian aerial attack on the power grid caused blackouts in Kyiv and other cities.

Volodymyr Kudrytsky — who was appointed to head Ukrenergo in 2020, before the full-scale Russian invasion — was removed as CEO after a vote from the supervisory board on Monday, according to a statement the board released Tuesday.

Several Ukrainian media outlets including Ukrainska Pravda, Forbes and Censor.net, citing government sources, said Mr. Kudrytsky had been blamed for failing to complete defensive fortifications at power plants before Russia’s Aug. 26 strike — the largest targeting energy infrastructure since the 2022 invasion.

The head of Ukraine’s electric company is now responsible for failing to complete defensive fortifications at power plants?

Pretty sad when your military can no longer perform basic defensive operations for critical infrastructure.

Zelensky is the one that should be "fired" or executed.

He's the fool that willingly became a NATO-puppet, arrogantly thought Ukraine could defeat a vastly superior military force and rejected peace deals repeatedly.

It will be interesting to see whether it’s Kyiv or Moscow residents who are frozen solid this winter. Probably some of both but now that Ukraine has started to target Russian power plants, I’m betting Moscow residents will suffer a lot more. They are farther north, more populous, and more dependent on the power plants. I don’t think there is going to be much sympathy for them either, given that they have already hit many Ukrainian power plants themselves.

Seriously? Putin said he’d win the war in 3 days. More than 2 years later, it’s not at all clear he can win it in 2 decades. Even if he wins it tomorrow, it will be a phyrric victory. He’s done irreparable damage to Russia in the process.

Putin said he’d win the war in 3 days.

No, he didn't.

Find me a quote or admit you're making that up.

The dishonesty and lies of Zeepers is the equivalent of Democrats and leftists.

Looks like Ukraine is defeating Russia. They kicked Russia out of Ukraine proper. Over a thousand Russian soldiers are being killed daily. Now they have taken over land in Russia without any substantial resistance. The Black Sea Russian Sea has been run off. And all that Russia bombs are children at night.

Is it legal for me to buy an abandoned farm for cheap in Western Ukraine?

Looks like Ukraine is defeating Russia.

Given that Ukraine is losing daily, in some cases with the Russians taking over with little or no resistance, you'd be wrong.

Moscow's August gains of 93 square miles were nearly five times higher than the monthly average of 21 square miles in the first seven months of the year.

Taking over a few miles a week, losing 7000 soldiers a week and hundreds of vehicles. Plus now Russia is now using motorcycles and golf carts is a long way from winning anything.

Yeah, so "vastly superior" they still haven't captured the enemy capital after 2.5 years. /s

They are so vastly superior that have kicked the asses of a 600,000 man army that was trained, funded, armed by NATO and directed by NATO commanders, an army that has dug into eastern Ukraine for eight years prior to the war.

Once you're proving what a fool you are.

I thought the narrative was that NATO was a bunch of limp-wristed Euro-wussies? Now making any kind of gain against an army and armed by NATO is some kind of accomplishment? LOL keep your propaganda straight, comrade.

I don't know where you came up with that.

I describe those in question has recklessly arrogant and greedy fools, ones that grossly underestimated a nation that turned into their enemy.

That does describe the Brits, though. They want to talk tough and then have American troops do their fighting for them.

Fortunately, most Americans had no desire to see Americans dying in Ukraine so our elite could launder more money there.

You're brain dead.

The Russians will have liberated the most productive part of Ukraine, an area that comprised 70-80% of Ukraine's GDP before the war. They have build a land bridge from mainland Russia to Crimea. They control almost the entire Black Sea coastline.

Only bitter, angry, delusional loser wants to spin that as a loss for Russia and win for NATO.

You're a clown.
