Dillard University will get the $19 million federal grant and the city of New Orleans will get a $50 million federal grant to combat a “climate crisis.”

Marc Scribner, a senior transportation policy analyst with the Reason Foundation, said buying electric bikes for a small number of families was not an appropriate use of federal funding. Scribner said the federal government should be more focused on big-picture solutions.

He said the electric bikes, which range in price from $400 to $1,800, would have an “imperceptible” impact on the climate.

Not to mention an increase in house/apartment fires from the batteries on the bikes.

This is why decent, rational people resent paying taxes.

An electric bike in New Orleans? Will work out just as well as the Lime bikes or the Blue Bike program.

Blue Bikes program in New Orleans is possibly ending for good -- not just amid coronavirus (May 2020)

The city fathers hid behind Covid to kill it off.

So who will be the lucky recipients of the 300 bikes? If any are actually provided?

By what authority does EPA have any business giving away tax payer money?

Almost 70 million dollars between the city and this college ? Will our House of Representatives ever take the time to sift through the allocations to agencies and remove unwarranted exspenditures ? The monetary bleeding and loan’s allowed with no accounting what so ever is criminal. All monies are authorized ONLY through the house , why is it such allotments are not directed to pay off some of our debt . Am I a fool to hope that such a logical approach will ever be implemented?

As a Ph.D. economist, I see no economic logic to the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act. How does more gov’t spending reduce inflation? Hint: It doesn’t.

I too am an economics PhD. I agree with you. But Biden/Harris are all about “justice” in the form of wealth transfers to preferred groups.

Watch for electric scooter robberies and murders to soar.

This is wrong and stupid for so many reasons!

Whittle down the central socialist government to a toothpick!

These deep thinkers need to be cut loose.

It’s a stupid, completely Dim idea. How is buying E-bikes for a few hundred people, with taxpayer money, going to help America as a country? Virtue signalling at its best.

Just like gun “buybacks”, this is a perfect opportunity to pick up a brand new ebike for $50. Someone will sell theirs.

“combat a “climate crisis.””

I’m sure spending a few trillion more bucks on boondoggles like this should take care of the issue.

Besides buying the electric bikes, the $19.9 million grant given to Dillard University will be used to expand bike-sharing programs, install electric vehicle chargers and having several building retrofit with solar and energy storage.

and the rest was spent on booze, drugs, women and politicians...............
