Military Industrial Complex

Ike warned us! Originally, Ike’s term was the Military Congressional Industrial Complex (what it really is). He was still president when he made this speech and had legislation he was trying to get passed.

He cut the term from MCIC to MIC. I wish he had left it as it was.

MIC = Military Industrial Complex = Businesses humongous and small that support and supply our armed forces and the lobbyists they deploy to Washington D.C. to advocate for them.

MIC is military industrial complex.

Here is the link to Eisenhower’s brilliant military industrial complex speech:

https://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/eisenhower001.asp

“This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex.

The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”
