A 90-year-old veteran was killed after he was shot – and then run over with his own car — during a violent carjacking outside a Houston retirement home over the weekend, cops said.
Grandfather of five [and six great-grandchildren], Nelson Beckett, was in the parking lot of the Lone Star Living assisted living complex Saturday around noon when the unidentified suspect approached the elderly man and started attacking him, Houston police said, according to reports.
“He had his little shopping cart and a scuffle ensued,” neighbor Rod Boson told KHOU 11. "They say he put up a good fight. That’s when he got shot. As the suspect backed up, he hit [the victim].”
“Nelson more than most people I know loved being with people,” Southwest Central Church of Christ senior minister Steve Sargent said during Sunday services. “He loved swapping stories, telling jokes and showing pictures.”

RIP
To only go without peace after all he’s given.
Hunt. Kill.
Our diversity is out strength.
Hopefully they will catch the perpetrator and serve justice. In Texas we know the law is taken seriously not like other states where the criminal system is a revolving door for criminals.
How things have changed since then.

Now these scum are targeting retirement homes for easy pickings. To car jack seasoned citizens. I must admit their feral criminal smarts are functional.
The senior dudes should go out to their automobile armed, and give ferals a huge surprise right in their faces. Unloading 100 %
RIP!
The garbage of planet Earth.
Can’t believe his own car would turn on him like that. Sheesh...
The car was being driven by one of your family members.
Is it them, Yogi?
Well played!

Suspect shoots, runs over 90-year-old with his own car during carjacking in Houston
The car was dumped at a local apartment complex about 10 minutes later.
There's no word on a reward being offered for info on the perp. That surprises me.
Prayers for Mr. Beckett, his family and friends.
The suspect stole his belongings and his vehicle. Police later found the stolen car abandoned at an apartment complex on Dunlap Street.
The suspect is described as a black man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.
We are not allowed to keep weapons in our Senior living community. While many of our 90+ year old neighbors are still spry, they’d be no match against a motivated young guy intent on theft.
