I know that people love their pets, and I like animals as well. When push comes to shove, however, people take priority over animals. Yes, it’s sad to have to leave some of them, but it’s always people first, IMHO.
Nobody said take the cat but leave the kindergartener. In California we had earthquake preparedness classes often on the base I worked at. You could have a bug out bag for your animal just as well as your child. And plans for how to get them out.
You don’t bond to animals the way me and Dolly do. And Ms.B, etc, so many of us. In my opinion, each one has a little spirit in there that God has given them, and those of us that are patient and look for it get to feel it, it’s a little connection back to God. Same with children, but more subtle and many miss it. Call me crazy, I’ll take it, lol!!!
PS. I was just referring to the domestic pets, I guess I was thinking of Cadbury and Sable and Cooper. I couldn’t imagine leaving them behind and feeling okay about that. All the big animals, feral animals, wild animals, poor things - there’s little options there. I don’t even know how you would leave food or water or shelter for them, given whatever the emergency is. It does sound like some farm animals are pretty smart and can figure out how to survive.
