Nikki Haley in Taiwan says an isolationist policy is not healthy, while expressing support for Trump

Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, on a visit to Taiwan Saturday said an isolationist policy isn't “healthy” and called on the Republican Party to stand with her country's allies, while still putting in good words for the party's nominee, Donald Trump.

Haley, who ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, told reporters in the capital, Taipei, that supporting U.S. allies, including Ukraine and Israel, is vital, and she underscored the importance of Taiwan — which Beijing claims as its territory, to be brought under control by force if necessary.

“I don’t think the isolationist approach is healthy. I think America can never sit in a bubble and think that we won’t be affected,” she said.

She probably thought she was going to steal the nomination when Trump got shot ....

A non-natural born citizen that lusts for power over the american people and who has zero respect for our heritage and traditions. She only respects the all mighty dollar and the globohomo MIC that she serves.

Maybe Hungary will join us in our isolationism.

She is also WRONG. Isolation from illness is VERY healthy.

Who is paying for her trip to Taiwan and in what capacity?
Lobbying for a job in the Trump cabinet?
SoS?

Not wanting to have meaningless wars all over the world should not be misconstrued as being an “isolationist”.

Slick-Nik

Surprised we didn’t see her giving a pro Kamel-Ho speech at the DNC coven of evildoers.

Trump isn’t an isolationist.

He just subscribes to the intelligent idea that charity begins at home; that allegiance, concern, devotion and loyalty for your own family and country come first.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will join the conservative think tank Hudson Institute as the next Walter P. Stern Chair, according to a press release from the institution.

April 16, 2024

“When our policymakers fail to call out our enemies or acknowledge the importance of our alliances, the world is less safe. That is why Hudson’s work is so critical,” Haley said in a press release. “They believe the American people should have the facts and policymakers should have the solutions to support a secure, free, and prosperous future. I look forward to partnering with them to defend the principles that make America the greatest country in the world.”

What’s she doing in Taiwan?

Bucking for secretary of state?

She’d make a great towel girl in a gay bathhouse.

Haley, not only have politicians spent the money for this they've spent us into debt that threatens us. Give it a break.

What isolationist policy is she talking about? Is she calling Taiwan isolationist? From communist China?

There is no solution. Taiwan doesn’t want a PRC “intervention” as Taiwan is a free country, and has known, lives, and breathes under the constant threat of CHICOM totalitarianism.

Yeah, Haley, keep trying to get into as many foreign entanglements as you can. We’re not as far in debt as we should be and there’s nothing like foreign interventionism to flush taxpayer money down the drain.

One of the Israeli channels I have listened to formed an alliance with Hudson Institute and hosted conversations. The very first one was with Pence. I no longer follow the channel.

Hudson institute: The institute’s policy statement is non-partisan “policy experts to deliberate on today’s most pressing issues on foreign and domestic policy, national security, economics, and international relations.”
There have been several different focuses since the organizations founding in 1961 but at this point the institute has moved to DC and it’s focus is decidedly neocon. Haley has found her “happy place”.

Besides Pence “experts” include William P. Barr, Elaine L. Chao, H.R. McMaster, & Michael R. Pompeo.

If Nikky Haley say it, there must be something wrong with it.

RFK stated the case well against the Deep State's war in Ukraine and the disruption to the global balance of power, a concept that the neocons, including the “we don't recognize spheres of influence” Bushite Condoleza Rice, still don't recognize. The notion that we can take on anyone does not mean we can take on everyone and the rest of the world has figured that out.

We don't walk softly, and our stick isn't as big as we think it is. Our shtick, however, is humongous.

She’s one of the neo-cons that RFK Jr. mentioned in his endorsement speech of Trump.

I read the transcript of a call that President Trump made to Fox News. He was talking about real policy to address reality. It seems that is rare.

Most other politicians bring up some vague strawman argument which they attack. It’s attitude. It’s nonsense. Mush-minded supporters might defend such nonsense as being “metaphorical” or “abstract,” but they are not proper metaphors or abstractions. Haley seems to be advancing a vague strawman argument here.

What is isolationism? Does Haley know? What isolationist policy is she talking about? Securing our borders? Threatening other nations with tariffs, if they don’t reduce their tariffs?

Intelligent trade increases wealth. That is why most of us work for money and use money to buy goods and services. Few of us choose to go into the wilderness, make a log cabin and fend for ourselves. The benefit of intelligent trade extends beyond national borders.

Another consideration is national security. We would be foolish to depend upon enemies for food, pharmaceuticals, and armaments.

International trade is mostly about goods. The mass movement of people is another matter. Should everyone (anyone?) have a Mexican or Ecuadorian maid and gardener? I think that pushes the idea of international trade beyond the breaking point.

Americans are not all the same. While some are suited for engineering, law, and computer programming, others are suited for agriculture and manufacturing. We need a diverse economic ecosystem for both our national wellbeing, and for the wellbeing of all our citizens. We need manufacturing.

I think a modest 10% tariff would be a good thing. The benefits in terms of national security and social cohesion would outweigh the costs.

I think it supports patriotism when you have the option to buy “Made in the USA.” It should not be a requirement in any way. Consumers can buy as they choose. Companies can produce where they choose. However, a 10% tariff would provide a slight bias towards domestic manufacture and consumption.

I would see nothing wrong with Americans buying a combination of products made in the USA and made abroad, as would certainly be the case with a 10% tariff. If I flew to France, I would expect some products to be “Made in France” and some made abroad, as would be the case with a French tariff of 10%.

All taxes hurt the economy. A tax on imports is no different. It’s just another tax. Calling it “isolationist” is just more stupid blather.
