I went from being a moderate Democrat who grew up in a old school principled Liberal family, to a Conservative who genuinely believed that the GOP were better, though far from perfect.
After seeing the treatment that Trump got from the GOP backstabbers, especially the Bush cabal, I realized that our whole entire political establishment is fake, and does not serve the people at all.
I was a big supporter of the war on terror back in the day, but now I see how pointless and sinister it all was. I now believe 9/11 was an inside job, along with the Oklahoma City bombing, the assassination of JFK and plenty of other stuff.
People can call me a loon if they like, but at least the wheels of my brain are always turning, seeking out truth, and reconsidering past positions.
I know people who have been dyed in the wool Centrists for decades. They are stuck in neutral. Anything outside the 40-yard lines is “kook territory” for them. They’re no better than dyed in the wool Leftists.
I think being stuck in your thinking like that all your life leads to senility and dementia.
The folks you described have never asked themselves one simple question.
“Why do I believe what I believe?”
In their case they just believed what they were told by authority figures.
That is a pathetic way to go through life.
