‘Shopping cart killer’ suspect won’t use insanity defense, seeks to bar mention of Fairfax Co., DC cases

A long-awaited psychiatric evaluation showed “shopping cart killer” suspect Anthony Eugene Robinson wasn’t criminally insane when he allegedly killed and disposed of the bodies of two women in Harrisonburg, Virginia, WTOP has learned.

Robinson is also suspected in two deaths in Fairfax County and one in D.C. — but hasn’t been charged in those cases.

Defense attorney Louis Nagy says the psychiatric evaluation, ordered by a Rockingham County Circuit Court judge, in 2022, “was not helpful,” as he considered an insanity defense.

On Sept. 23, Robinson is set to begin a five-day first-degree murder trial in the death of 39-year-old Tonita Smith, of Charlottesville. Early next year, he’ll face a similar trial in the death of Beth Redmon, 54, of Harrisonburg.

It’s been two years already? Reminded me of the nearby story in Alexandria City — this guy was found insane.

A Virginia man who once suffered a psychiatric break and killed a merchant believing he [the merchant] was a werewolf was ordered to stay off social media Thursday after he appeared to gloss over his violent past in an online dating profile.

Pankaj Bhasin, who is free on conditional release after he spent three years in a mental health facility, recently had a Facebook dating profile that called himself "an easy going adventurer who believes in universal connection” who is “recently getting back from two years of travel," NBC Washington reported this week.

He stabbed the guy like 50 times. And he wasn’t on “travel.”

When he murdered two women near Harrisonburg ,VA, He worked at a chicken plant. My grand father and many neighbors worked there. As a teen, my brother and I helped him clean up on the night shift. I witnessed mass chicken and turkey killings which made me a little sick. This guy was probably one who slit throat,
