Reaction to Supreme Court of Canada Ruling and Mandated Re-Education
Jordan B. Peterson ^ | 9/8/24 | Jordan Peterson

Posted on 08/20/2024 2:47:39 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

A brief discussion of Dr. Jordan B. Peterson’s court case regarding freedom of speech in Canada. The College of Psychologist’s is forcing mandatory “social media re-training” in order for Jordan to keep his license, after a dozen or so complaints were submitted online about his tweets and Joe Rogan podcasts. The Supreme Court has ruled against his appeal, ruling that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms has no force against the mid level bureaucrats who rule the professional colleges and regulatory boards.

This is a blow to all working professionals in Canada who value freedom of speech, to say nothing of those they serve.

“ruling that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms has no force against the mid level bureaucrats who rule the professional colleges and regulatory boards.”

So the vaunted Charter of Rights is essentially a complete fiction then.

Always has been. Every right in Canada is subject to removal by a single vote by Parliament.

Thank God for the anti-federalists that pushed for the Bill of Rights. Patrick Henry was amazing!

Your country’s foundation was a lightning in a bottle moment. The only time in history where men gave their lives to found a country without unduly enriching themselves over it.

It doesn’t matter to Dr. Peterson, except maybe a little pride or ego and a lot of principle. He doesn’t practice and has diversified his economic interests. I believe he lives in the USA now. But he was fighting to keep his license, and in a way for everyone else who might become a target. He lost. Canada lost. Psychology lost. The people lose when freedom to express ideas is controlled by the government.

In all likelihood, Dr. Peterson is much smarter than anyone who would possibly be hired to “re-train” him.

“Reaction to Supreme Court of Canada Ruling and Mandated Re-Education”

I understand that he’s against mass Third World immigration, which is now illegal in Canada, along with the UK and most of Europe.

I can imagine the re-trainer getting re-trained into a wide-eyed Peterson-ite acolyte.

It took ten minutes for Peterson to get to the WHY. Why is he going to go through with the “reeducation.”
He said, “I’m a citizen of Canada, subject to its laws, such as they are; and so I’ll play the bloody charade out to the end.”
If I understand correctly, he has been ordered to undergo “reeducation” or lose his license to practice. He acknowledges he is not financially dependent on his practice.
Therefore, I don’t understand why he can’t just as well, as a citizen of Canada, refuse and forfeit his license. If that’s all they can do to him, why go through the charade?

He says because he has future psychologists and other professionals in mind, and wants to strike a blow for free speech. I think his “reeducator” is going to have the Devils own time of it, and that’s exactly what Peterson is aiming for.

Well I don’t see how he is striking a blow for free speech by submitting to reeducation rather than forfeiture of his license.
Here’s more. About 12m 30s:
“I can just take my privilege elsewhere at a moment’s notice. I dont need this in any way; i dont even need the designation — even though they’re not going to take it from me without a war.”
I’m not seeing the war.
If he’s going through with the program in order to expose, afterwards, the intellectual bankruptcy, why not say so?
He has reason on his side. Sanity. He doesn’t need the license OR the reeducation. Which by the way an honest man is bound to flunk anyway.

I think he might be emulating Socrates and taking some hemlock, albeit without dying. This “reeducation” is going to be broadcast on the Internet, so I think he’s going to publicly make a monkey out of his “reeducator” to deter future punishments like this for future professionals.

It is interesting that the Canadian constitution is a fraud. In this country the Supreme Court is fighting against the bureaucracy. I send this letter annually now.

Supreme Court 9, Administrative State 0

On April 14, 2023, the Supreme Court struck a blow supporting our Constitution and individual liberties. Beginning in the late nineteenth century, citizens began losing many freedoms through administrative edicts. Appeals of these regulations had to be made to courts within an agency, which has already found the people guilty. Such power harks back to discretions of English kings unrestrained by Parliament found in such places as King’s Council and the Star Chamber.

The Supreme Court acted to reassert the jurisdiction of district and circuit courts and the legislature as established by the Constitution. All power was to reside there, so Americans could avoid the sad experience of English citizens. Justice Kagan delivered the unanimous opinion of the court saying, “One respondent attacks as well the combination of prosecutorial and adjudicatory functions in a single agency….They maintain in essence that the agencies as currently structured, are unconstitutional in much of their work”.

You and I could relate too many examples of people’s frustrating experiences facing government bureaucrats. Their sufferings cause me to reflect on a passage where Fredrick Douglass describes overseer duties. I only substituted for the words slave, overseer, and master.

“No matter how innocent a citizen might be it availed him nothing when accused by the bureaucrat of any violation of a regulation. To be accused was to be convicted and to be convicted was to be punished….To escape punishment was to escape accusation….few citizens had the fortune to do either under the overseership of the agency.”

Trump should close the border to all these countries that step on basic rights like Free Speech.
