Giving up by the blood is easy, maybe 5 minutes after 20 minutes of qualifying questions and a hemoglobin test.
I’ve been giving platelets since the beginning of the year, and that’s a two to three hour procedure. The chairs are comfy and you have a Netflix TV screen in front of you. I spend the time watching a movie and squeezing the ball.
I used to feel that way; I was close to reaching the five gallon mark.
But I am turned off by the blood banks rejecting science and making risky decisions that threatened recipients.
I have lost interest but would step up in case of a national emergency; especially if the blood banks would drop DEI.
For reasons, I currently take a blood thinner.
They will not accept blood from folks who take blood thinners.
As folks like me (a former regular donor) age into that “older demographic, we are excluded. And that may be a cause, when added to that younger demographic who just do not donate.
