There was no ice at Giant. There was no ice at CVS. And Malia Blake was getting anxious.
Her new side hustle, intended to help her climb out of debt, was inspired by a woman she saw on TikTok do this to pay for pharmacy school. It depended on four ingredients: ice, water, sweetener and lemons.
With her SUV filled with tables, bags of lemons she got from Costco and flavored syrups she bought off Amazon, Blake pulled into a 7-Eleven parking lot in Southeast Washington and ran inside. Tucked in the back of the store was a freezer.
“Yay, they have it!” Blake takes a deep exhale. “I think I’ll get five or six bags. That would have been a disaster if they didn’t have it.”
Lemonade stands used to be only for kids who wanted to make pocket change during their summer breaks. Now people in their 20s and 30s around the country have started squeezing lemons to pay off bills. They set up stands at farmers markets, local festivals and concerts. Proprietors say it’s very profitable, but the business is extremely weather dependent and has gotten highly competitive.

"Highly competitive?!" Can't have that! Soon, Kamala will be decrying "price gouging" in the lemonade stand business, and demanding that Congress institute stringent price caps.
But what we really need are sidewalk boot-blacks, and corner newsies.
And what ever happened to those people who used to sell pencils out of tin cups?

Lemonade and Grey Goose.
Every now and then you see a lemonade stand pop up in my neighborhood and there’s two or three children running it, and we usually stop and get a couple of cups, plus tip, go around the corner and toss them out.
I want to support their Lemonade Stand but I don’t necessarily want to drink lemonade that’s been sitting out... I was a military cook & know all about sanitation... anyway that’s besides the point... so I help them out. If I see some adult running a stand I ain’t stopping... sorry.

I remember seeing these in the Boston Common during my vacation in late July, by the entrance at Charles Street. I didn’t realize that they were a recent development. The stand that I went to was run by a pleasant young Irish woman. The Lemonade was good but , an 8 oz cup costs $7.
This is just wretched.
And they still vote d.
At $7 a cup, I would never know if the lemonade is good or not....

Do they not sell ice in big cities any more?
Around here the grocery stores still sell bags of ice; so do some pharmacies (not sure about CVS)...maybe there’s been a problem with people stealing it?
AND there will be some government goon who will close down these stands .
