Base security didn’t give chase and arrest the perp? They just let him drive away? WTH?

How would that work out when they have no jurisdiction in the civilian area?

They could have given chase and called in the local constabulary to assist and arrest.

Civilian police have power outside of their jurisdictions when in “hot pursuit”. I wonder if the same is true for military police.
