Withdrawals hand seats in Legislature to Republicans (SD)

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — Many of the 10 Democratic candidates who withdrew from election races for the South Dakota Legislature haven’t been replaced.

One result is that in one of those spots — the District 20 counties of Davison, Jerauld, Miner and Sanborn — the two House seats will be won by default by two new Republicans, Jeff Bathke of Mitchell and Kaley Nolz of Mitchell.

I did not see the reasons for why so many candidates withdrew. Anyone know why?

Perhaps it’s the same reason why several people turned down invitations to be on the ticket with Heels Up Harris.

Probably someone has the goods on their nefarious deeds. Or they have to fight a deadly disease. Crazy Spouse and/or family. Grifted enough money to not need to work...got sick of political b.s. That should cover it.

Given how much trouble they had in passing a law to keep men out of women’s sports, perhaps the Republicans running are so liberal that the Democrats don’t see a need to challenge them.
